After months of waiting Android N is finally here. Nexus devices will get the new firmware first, and it will roll out to other devices worldwide. Most Android phone users will likely receive a notification in the next few moths to update their phone. Now, here's everything you need to know about Android N Nougat release date for Moto Z Play and Moto X and Moto G4.
Just like previous Android releases, Google rolls out the new version of firmware to Nexus smartphones. Owners of the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6 should expect to receive an OTA update notification. August 22 is the kick-off date for a weeks-long rollout of Android N to Nexus devices.
A report from mobile-development firm Apteligent says Moto devices is one of the first gadgets that will have Android N in the United States. For those unaware, Motorola was the first major device manufacturer to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its latest devices. This is because the device manufacturer only puts lightweight custom skin on top of new Android releases for faster roll out.
The frontrunners for Nougat update would be The Moto Z series and Moto G4 series. In addition, owners of Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto G4 Plus and Moto Z Force will receive the new operating system before the year ends.
After Moto devices, LG's current flagship, the G5, will probably have a taste of Nougat firmware. HTC phones have also historically get new Android update around the same time as LG's, according to Wired.
Take note that the release date of Android Nougat on devices depends on phone model, carrier, location, and the "heaviness" of the skin each manufacturer puts on top of the firmware.
As for the features of Android Nougat, it introduces the ability to view apps in a split-screen mode. The new operating system makes it possible for users to open more than one app simultaneously.
A report from Time says the feature is helpful for users who love to multitask because it reduces the need to skip around from app to app. For example, users can edit their file in Google Drive while talking about the changes with their boss. In addition, users can open their documents and emails in just one screen.
Aside from Multi-window mode, Android Nougat offers revamped notifications panel, new emojis and update security system.
