They've only been married a few months, but Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and R&B star Ciara are "happier than ever" and looking forward to the future.
"Everything is sweet, we are so happy, this is really the happiest I have ever been," Ciara told Page Six of married life.
The Christian NFL star and "I Bet" singer officially tied the knot in June after just over a year of dating. The couple wed at Peckforton Castle in England in front of 100 of their closest friends and family members, according to TMZ.
The bride wore a custom lace gown by Roberto Cavalli and carried a bouquet of white flowers, according to USA Today.
Ciara said, "We looked at a venue in the US, but we also looked abroad, and the castle in England just seemed magical, and perfect. We have good friends around us so everyone kept the secret...The wedding was like a fairytale."
The couple first revealed they were dating while at the White House for a state dinner, when Wilson arrived with the singer. Their relationship made headlines last year after the athlete revealed during an interview with San Diego's Rock Church that the two were abstaining from sexual activity because they want to honor God with their relationship.
"I will never forget she was on tour, she was traveling and I was looking at her in the mirror, sitting in her dressing room, she was getting ready to go, about 15 minutes before she went on stage," Wilson said when asked about the decision during a Q&A session last July.
"She was sitting there and God spoke to me and said 'I need you to lead her ... I told her right then and there. What would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table and just do it Jesus way ... because if you can really love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody," he said.
Ciara - who was previously engaged to rapper Future and has a son with him- met the Seattle Seahawks quarterback in 2015. Wilson, 27, was previously married to Ashton Meem from 2012-2014.
Wilson later revealed that he believes God led them to each other, as both had endured previous heartache.
"For me, I knew that God had brought me into her life to bless her and for her to bless me and to bless so many people with the impact that she has, that I have," he said.
While they hope to honor God with their relationship, Wilson warned that he and Ciara are not going to be "perfect by any means." "Life's not perfect, nobody's perfect, but he's anointed both of us, and I know that he's calling for us to do something miraculous, something special."
Ciara also revealed she prayed for a God-fearing man before Wilson stepped into her life and said God told him to lead her spiritually.
"I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted: a God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me," the singer recalled as the May covergirl of Essence Magazine. "I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all."
