The failed Kevin Durant free agency campaign of the Los Angeles Clippers saw the former OKC star sign and form a "super team" with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in the Golden State Warriors. However, it looks like the possibility of both KD and DeAndre Jordan to play for the same team is still not lost. With their current team-up in Team USA at the Rio Olympics 2016, reports point to Kevin Durant recruiting DeAndre Jordan to sign with the Golden State Warriors this offseason.
Prior to Kevin Durant, the free agency had once been dominated by DeAndre Jordan and LaMarcus Aldridge. While the former Portland Trail Blazers star had been the bigger fish at the time - with teams like the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors competing to sign him - the Los Angeles Clippers player got his fair share of media attention. As the LaMarcus Aldridge free agency campaign ended in the San Antonio Spurs, the issues involving DeAndre Jordan evolved into bigger problems that ended up with the Chris Paul squad getting penalized by the NBA.
At this point, DeAndre Jordan has an attractive contract with the Los Angeles Clippers - a bloody battle the Blake Griffin squad won over the Dallas Mavericks during last year's free agency. However, it looks like the big man might consider being on the move again as Kevin Durant is said to be presenting a better offer with the Golden State Warriors. Will he succeed?
Pretty much like the strategies used by former teammates James Harden and Russell Westbrook during the free agency days, Kevin Durant is reportedly utilizing his close friendship with the Los Angeles Clippers star to execute a DeAndre Jordan trade this offseason. Moreover, it looks like their working relationship in Team USA for the Rio Olympics 2016 is giving the former OKC star more leverage in recruiting the center.
"If I were to get married today, he'd be in my wedding," shared Kevin Durant in an interview, referring to his closeness with DeAndre Jordan. He added, "That's how it is. That's my brother."
For his part, the Los Angeles Clippers star echoed the sentiments of Kevin Durant. The big man said, "[W]e've been really, really cool and he's one of my best friends in the world."
Golden State Warriors fans are a bit confused on the need to recruit DeAndre Jordan to the Dub Nation. While they have been playing small ball, the Stephen Curry squad appears to be mulling over tweaking their roster in an attempt to stop the plays of the Cleveland Cavaliers especially Kyrie Irving, LeBron James and Kevin Love.
Initially, rumors are rife that the Golden State Warriors wanted a Blake Griffin trade. However, reports indicated that the Los Angeles Clippers insist on keeping the NBA All-Star as the main man of the franchise. To this day, though, no comment has been made available over this NBA trade rumor. Hence, the possibility of a DeAndre Jordan trade to the Golden State Warriors remains a speculation.
What do you think? Should the Golden State Warriors recruit DeAndre Jordan? Did the Los Angeles Clippers star's performance in Team USA of the Rio Olympics 2016 prove his benefit when placed alongside Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green?
