"Bringing Up Bates," the the highest-rated series in UPtv's history, has been renewed for a fifth season and promises to once again entertain, encourage, and uplift audiences.
"Led by devoted father Gil and his loving wife Kelly Jo, the Bates do everything in bulk while staying true to their values and rules for the family," reads a press release made available to The Gospel Herald. "But lately - as viewers will see - their simple rural lifestyle in Tennessee is in a flurry of transitions as this remarkable and ever-growing family continues to navigate life's triumphs and challenges."
The fourth season of "Bringing Up Bates" is currently premiering new episodes on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET., and to date is outperforming season three in all key demos, according to the press release.
Over the years, audiences have been given an intimate look at the lives of the outspoken Christian family through their reality show. Earlier this month, "Bringing Up Bates" stars Chad and Erin Paine expressed their excitement over the birth of their second child, Brooklyn Elise Paine, following a difficult pregnancy.
The couple shared their emotional first moments with Brooklyn, who weighed 6 pounds and 6 ounces, after her birth in a statement made available to GH: "Our hearts are overflowing with joy at the arrival of our sweet Brooklyn! We have looked forward to this day with so much hope, anticipation and excitement. God has answered many prayers and calmed many fears throughout this pregnancy, and to hold our little princess in our hands for the first time is truly a miracle and dream come true."
The Bates family frequently discuss their faith and how it drives all they do. They summarize their beliefs and motive for appearing in a reality show on their blog: "Whether your family is big, or small, or none at all-every life is a life that can count for Christ... Knowing that our significance in life is not about family size, popularity, financial status, ability, or appearance, but rather, our significance is in Christ who loves us and died for us! May we each endeavor to serve Him with our whole heart."
UPtv has also renewed newcomer "Growing Up McGhee" for a second season, a show focused on Ro and Mia McGhee and their growing sextuplets as they balance life with school and their family business.
"'Bringing Up Bates' and 'Growing Up McGhee' truly speak to our audience with the perfect blend of heart and humor. They are brand-defining series that deliver on UP's promise to bring viewers great stories about families of all shapes and sizes," said Amy Winter, evp and general manager, UP. "These lovable families have welcomed viewers into their homes each week, and we are excited to continue the journey with them and experience all of the love, laughter, excitement and chaos in their ever-changing and highly entertaining lives."
