The issue with living in a 4K generation of TVs is not created for the current generation of gaming consoles. Considering that Microsoft has the Xbox One S, it seems that Sony needs to get on the ball with their 4K power. Now it looks like there is going to be a Sony PS4 NEO, or PlayStation 4K, or PlayStation 4.5 coming soon. This is what is known about the Sony PlayStation NEO release date and price, along with the PlayStation VR.
According to Gotta Be Mobile, the PlayStation NEO is going to an upgraded version of the PS4 console which is already on the shelves. Getting information on the PlayStation NEO has been pretty questionable at best. Even with the huge video game convention last June at the Los Angeles Convention Center, E3 2016, there was no word on the PlayStation NEO from Sony. Considering that is one of the biggest video game conventions in the world, and Microsoft had a lot to say about the Xbox One S there, one would think that Sony would have used the spotlight to discuss the PlayStation NEO.
So what the heck, Sony? Is what fans are saying, but Sony has plans to talk about the PS4 NEO at an event on September 7. This event will be happening in New York City, and it will be a "technical showcase". Apparently, developers and industry insiders will get to see how the upgraded hardware can be used to enhance the games that they are working on for the PS4.
The thing is with the Xbox One S and PlayStation NEO is the game quality, as it has been said that these games can't be written specifically written for the Xbox One S. As for the PlayStation NEO, I don't think that is going to happen as well. If these companies are going to do that, wouldn't it make sense just to do a total upgrade? So if you can play it on the PlayStation NEO, you can play it on the PS4.
As far as the price is concerned, the current price of the Sony PlayStation 4 is about $299 to match the price of the Xbox One. It is expected that the PS4 NEO will cost at least $399 or more.
Originally, it was thought that this new PlayStation NEO was going to be a hardware upgrade for that PlayStation VR. Yes, those virtual reality headsets require a lot of processing power to get to work. Perhaps there will be some kind of PlayStation VR bundle or something.
Now that the Sony PlayStation is getting aboard the 4K bandwagon, one can't help but wonder if the Nintendo NX will have 4K capacity as well. Since the announcement is coming in September, I would imagine that it will be out before the holiday season.
