According to the veteran All-Star, the DeMarcus Cousins team failed to meet the expectations it set when they recruited players in their roster, Noting the changes in coaching staff, trade moves and draft picks, Rudy Gay shared his wariness over the future of the Sacramento Kings.
"During the exit interview it was just how the season go, we should have done this, we should have done that," said Rudy Gay of his talks with the Sacramento Kings front office. He added, "Those things weren't really discussed at that point. I think it's pretty obvious what situation is going on here. At this point in my career, I think I want some kind of consistency and we don't have that here, at all."
To further fuel the Rudy Gay trade rumors, the Sacramento Kings star himself hinted at the possibility of his departure from the NBA team. Citing the structure of his team and the lack of consistency in the management style, the basketball player shared his frustrations over the group. He also admitted that his interest in helping the Sacramento Kings become better slowly dwindled especially in the past NBA season.
He shared, "I think people saw my disinterest, not disinterest, but I think people saw what went on this season and kind of went on that to say that I asked for a trade. I still feel like I had a lot more to give ... because of the structure of the team I wasn't able to give everything."
With this in mind, Rudy Gay revealed how much he yearns for stability. This is where the San Antonio Spurs come in. "Stability. I feel like I still have a lot of years left. With stability, look at people like Jamal Crawford, look at people like Paul Pierce, a lot of people," shared Rudy Gay when asked of his demands if he signs with another NBA team. He added, "When they have that stability and they know what their worth is for a team and what their job is for a team, how they can work on that and play for that team."
