The Boston Celtics are aggressively signing NBA stars in the offseason. While the Isaiah Thomas squad missed out on the Kevin Durant free agency campaign, with the former Oklahoma City Thunder star opting to go with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in the Golden State Warriors roster, reports are surfacing that a strong super team will be on its way soon. The Boston Celtics are said to be working out the details to a Kevin Garnett trade in the past months.
The issue of a Kevin Garnett retirement stemmed from the exit of Kobe Bryan from the Los Angeles Lakers roster, which ended the Black Mamba era. The Tim Duncan retirement news, which is another chapter closed in the San Antonio Spurs book, also contributed to the speculations on the future of Kevin Garnett in the NBA. Will the Minnesota Timberwolves veteran retire this offseason?
The Minnesota Timberwolves, a team that feature the likes of Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins, have been the home of Kevin Garnett in the past years. However, sources claim that the future Hall of Famer only signed with the NBA team because of Flip Saunders. With the passing of the former head coach, the Minnesota Timberwolves are left uncertain of the plans of Kevin Garnett.
Rumors are rife that the Boston Celtics are planning a reunion of its phenomenal big three to show the new basketball stars dominating the NBA today the way the game is truly played. Hence, fans are anticipating the re-entry of Ray Allen in the pro basketball league with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. To top off the reunion, all three are expected to play for the Boston Celtics next NBA season.
At the moment, no official comment has been given by any of the parties involved. In the recent interviews, the Minnesota Timberwolves front office remains unsure of the future plans Kevin Garnett. However, it appears that they are keeping their options open. In fact, the Minnesota Timberwolves seem agreeable to any deal Kevin Garnett wants in his future.
"I just asked him, 'Kevin, what are you going to do?' His answer was, 'I'd really like to play next year 'cuz I'd like to go out knowing we got into the playoffs,'" shared Glen Taylor of the plans of Kevin Garnett. He added, "Then he said, 'I don't know if I can.' I asked him, 'What does that mean?' And he said, 'I don't know.'"
Taylor further noted, "So I asked the question, but I didn't get an answer that helped me. Yes, theoretically, he'd like to play. But he has some doubts of his knees holding up. I believe he told me exactly the truth."
What do you think? Will Kevin Garnett retire? Should he agree to a reunion with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen in the Boston Celtics? Or should he end his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves?
