The New York Giants are charging towards the next NFL season with a renewed energy over their chances of landing a playoffs spot. While the Eli Manning roster looks promising, it still has a lot of issues to work out. One of the most pressing problems appears to be related to Odell Beckham, Jr. The wide receiver, who jumped to superstardom in the NFL almost overnight, has been reportedly tagged as a potential liability for the New York Giants.
The surge in the popularity of Odell Beckham, Jr. is said to have come too early in his NFL career. While the wide receiver is one of the most promising stars in the football community, a lot of critics and veteran stars seem to frown upon on the behavior of the New York Giants player. Rumors are rife that the 23-year-old Louisiana native received stern warnings from the front office and even teammates Eli Manning and Rashad Jennings to get his act together before the NFL season starts.
"I think that [Odell] Beckham, I don't know him I've only said hello to him one time. There's two ways fame works: You run fame or fame runs you. And it can get out of hand very quickly," commented Charles Barkley of the New York Giants star.
He added, "And I think Odell Beckham is a stud and he's getting a lot of commercials, but I think he's starting to get to the point where he's becoming too famous instead of worrying how to become a great football player. I think he needs to be careful. Just lay low and just kick butt on the field. I mean, nobody cares about all that extracurricular stuff. And Josh Norman, he earned his money. Congratulations to that man."
The spotlight seems to chase Odell Beckham, Jr. even outside the gridiron. Ever since he started his NFL career, the New York Giants star has been romantically linked to a number of famous ladies in Hollywood. The list includes former Disney stars Zendaya and Demi Lovato. The wide receiver was also reportedly seen going out with Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Khloe Kardashian, who is the former girlfriend of Houston Rockets leader James Harden.
While critics shake their heads in the reports linked to Odell Beckham, Jr., it looks like the New York Giants star is still certain that his NFL team will be a Super Bowl contender next season. In his speech in his football camp in New Jersey, the wide receiver shared his optimism over their capacity to surpass the rest of the NFL teams this year.
"Just chase your dreams, man...chase 'em," said Odell Beckham, Jr to the group of campers. He added, "You never know where you'll end up if you don't go for it. Most importantly, go Giants this year! Super Bowl 51 in Houston. We will be there."
