In 2010, there was an action role-playing hack and slash video game known as Darksiders, which was developed by Vigil Games and the now defunct THQ. The game was popular enough to earn itself a sequel, also known as Darksiders II. When Darksiders II was released, it was in 2012, and the console was ruled by the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Fortunately, there was an enhanced version of Darksiders II developed by Nordic Games for the PlayStation 4 as well as the Xbox One. Now, the original game is about to get a makeover with Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, and this is what we know about the game's release date and price. Is there a Darksiders III on the way?
According to Engadget, the Darksiders game is a mash-up of Zelda tropes like puzzles, dungeons, and boss battles. It is also an RPG and resembles God of War, and in this game, you play War. Yes, you are War, that Horseman of the Apocalypse. Seriously, you play a messenger of the Apocalypse. By the way, in Darksiders II, you play Death, which was why its remastered version was called the Deathinitive edition.
So, what can be expected from Darksiders: Warmastered Edition? According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the revamp of the game will feature:
§ 4k support and additional video options for PC
§ Doubled all the texture resolutions
§ Rendering improvements and rework
§ Better shadow rendering quality
§ Post processing effects
§ 60 FPS in moment to moment gameplay
In case you want to get a sneak preview of how improved these graphics are, you don't get that right now. Seriously, the publishers didn't release their comparison screenshots.
So, is there going to be a Darksiders III with the re-releases of these games? It is not uncommon for a gaming company to release older and remastered versions of their older games before releasing the next sequel. I mean, think of all the Legend of Zelda games that have been re-released since the long delay of The Legend of the Zelda game for the Wii U, which is now for the Nintendo NX. If you can't wait for the latest with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind, perhaps Darksiders: Warmastered Edition will keep you satisfied until then.
Well, if you were War in the first one and Death in the second one, who will you be in the third one? Maybe you will be Pestilence or Plague, one of the other two Horsemen of the apocalypse. What kind of fun would that be? I mean, are you supposed to riddle your enemies with disease, or starve them to death?
The Darksiders Warmastered Edition will have a release date on October 25th. It will cost $19.99, which looks to be a serious rebate.
