If you are not familiar with Rainbow Six Siege, it is a highly popular video game based on a novel by the late Tom Clancy, author of several acclaimed and best-selling spy novels. It is a part of the Rainbow Six game series focuses on an international counter-terrorist unit code-named "Rainbow". There are many sequels and expansion packs since the game's first release in 1998, and the newest expansion is Operation Skull Rain, the third expansion to the Rainbow Six Siege. This is everything that is known about Rainbow Six Siege Operation Skull Rain release date and features.
Operation Skull Rain will feature two new operators of Caveira and Capitao, both from Brazil's Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE). These new Operators will be instantly available to Season Pass holders, and they will have exclusive access to them for the first seven days.
According to Ubiblog, Caveira is a defensive operator of the two. She possesses the "Silent Step", a skill that enables her to sneak up on enemies to immobilize and then interrogate them to reveal their teammates' location. She has an M12 and SPAS-15 for primary weapons, a PRB92 as a secondary weaspon, not to mention Nitro Cell C4 as well as Barbed Wire for gadgets.
As for Capitao, this attacker has a tactical crossbow that can fire asphyxiating bolts that can burn oxygen within a certain radius, not to mention micro smoke grenades that can mask positions and team movements. Capitao has an M-249 and PARA-308 for primary weapon options, a PRB92 for secondary, and frag and stun grenades rounding out his available arsenal.
Within Operation Skull Rain will be a new map that will allow teams to do battle, and it will be free for all players. This new map is set in a Brazilian favela, supports exterior shell destruction, which will be the most destructible map to date.
In addition to all of this, the development team is going to add a lot of "tweaks and improvements" to the game. The biggest of these is the addition of a Tactical Realism custom game mode. The Tactical Realism mode prevents players from marking enemies, allowing only the timer, compass, gadget, and weapons panels to be visible in the HUD, which is by popular request. There are also no kill confirmations, as well as a more realistic magazine management will be implemented. The purpose is to get players to rely even more on their teammates and communication information, which are very important elements to the game.
There will also be a new angled grip attachment to make the transition between hip fire and ADS much faster in order to create a faster-paced style of combat. There is also a new surrender system which will make it possible for your team to surrender during a ranked match with a majority vote, but matches can only be surrendered before the third round.
Operation Skull Rain will be available for Rainbow Six Seige on PS4, Xbox One, and PC as of August 2nd.
