The Dallas Cowboys suffered from a series of heartbreaking injuring in the past NFL season. With both Tony Romo and Dez Bryant off the gridiron, the Jerry Jones squad saw their Super Bowl dreams slip far away from their grasp. The NFL offseason was no better since the Dallas Cowboys opted to get rid of Greg Hardy. However, the NFL team has no plans of dwelling in the past as changes have been implemented and the latest of these involve none other than Johnny Manziel.
"The Cowboys' 4-12 finish a year ago is directly linked to these two significant injuries in the first two weeks of the season," pointed out Jon Machota of the Sports Day. He added, "This year, Romo was a full participant in organized team activities and minicamp. Bryant was limited."
Johnny Football had been earlier pegged as possibly one of the most promising NFL stars in the league. With a Heisman Trophy, which he won in his freshman year, bolstering his confidence, the quarterback was set to become a legendary player - one who could be comparable to the likes of Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Russell Wilson. However, things went haywire for Johnny Manziel as his stint with the Cleveland Browns came to an abrupt stop due to issues outside the gridiron. In fact, not even the support of his friends and superstars like LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Von Miller of the Denver Broncos managed to save Johnny Football.
Despite his issues off the gridiron, Johnny Manziel still enjoys a solid following in the football community. Hence, it comes as no surprise that some NFL teams are interested in signing him even for just a minimum contract. One of the football squads reportedly pursuing Johnny Football aggressively this offseason is the Dallas Cowboys.
The injury of Tony Romo last NFL season instilled a fear among Dallas Cowboys fans.Without the fearless leader of the team, the squad fell from the rankings and never managed to bounce back. Hence, the entry of a healthy Johnny Manziel could cure this problem.
"But Tony Romo is fragile. Uh, sure. Football is dangerous. But Romo and the Cowboys are going to be good this year," noted Adam Rank of NFL.com. He also shared, "Don't underestimate how much Elliott is going to improve the passing game, just by being on the field."
While the newly minted members of the Dallas Cowboys seem promising, replacing Tony Romo once he goes down again in the next season with a rookie will be a fatal mistake. Hence, rumors are rife that a deal with Johnny Manziel could secure the ranking of the NFL team in the league. Moreover, signing a talent like Johnny Football for a cheap contract would be appealing to the Dallas Cowboys.
