Android Version 7.0 (also known as Android N or Nougat) will be coming soon to most of the newer Android phones by the end of this year when the new Google Nexus smartphones come out. Still, there are a lot of terrific newer Android devices that still have yet to receive the current available version of Android with Android M (also known as version 6.0 or Marshmallow). One of the slower getters of this new version of Android is Sony, and this is the latest news about Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow and Android Nougat Release Date for Sony Xperia Z5, Z4, Z3, and Z2 on Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon.
According to Tech Radar, it would appear that the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 compact, Xperia Z2 Tablet, and Xperia Z2 are all seeing the Android 6 Marshamllow update. This matches a lot of what is being said on other sites, such as the Android Marshmallow site for Sony, which may or may not be accurate.
In addition to those flagships, there is a report from Gear and Style Cheat Sheet that other products such as the Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia C4, and the Xperia M5 will be getting the upgrade as well.
As far as when Android Nougat will be released, there are speculations that the Android N update will be released in the third quarter of 2016. Considering all of the delays that are associated with the latest version of Android on Sony, it will probably more realistically be showing up in 2017.
So what will be the first Sony devices to receive Android N? Chances are, it will be the Sony Xperia X devices first. Then it will be the Z5-branded, with the Z4 tablet, and the Z3 series. Given that the newer Android devices receive the upgrade first, it will probably happen in that order. Sort of like how the Z1 series won't be getting Marshmallow.
If you are a Sony user of a newer device in the United States, see if you can't get the OTA (Over The Air) download of Android Marshmallow now. Just go into the "Settings" and "System Update" to see if the upgrade is available. The upgrade may not be available depending on your carrier like T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular, AT&T, and Verizon. Feel free to leave a comment here saying whether or not you received your Marshmallow on your Sony device, as well as what carrier that you subscribe to.
