Super athlete and player on God's team, football star and analyst Tim Tebow helped a family during a mid-air medical emergency on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Phoenix on Sunday. According to several passengers posting to social media, after a man fell unconscious due to heart problems, Tebow left his first-class seat to come to the back of the plane to offer any help he could.
Tebow reportedly met with the man's wife, supporting her and praying with her, according to a post from Richard V. Gotti on Facebook.
Tebow is a devout Christian, and has been open about his religion since he rose to prominence as the quarterback for the Florida Gators.
Gotti stated the medical emergency incident occurred on Delta Airlines Flight Number 1772 from Atlanta, Ga. "An older gentleman began having what appeared to be heart problems, and he went unconscious," posted Gotti.
"I watched strangers from all over the world and every ethnicity come to the help of this man for over an hour! Whether it was chest compressions, starting an IV, helping breathe life into this man, or praying everyone helped! I listened to shock after shock from the AED machine and still no pulse. No one gave up."
Gotti said people were praying and lifting this man up to the Lord in a way that he had never seen before. "The crew of Delta Airlines were amazing. They acted in a fast and professional manner," he added.
Suddenly, Gotti said he observed a guy walking down the aisle, and that guy was Tim Tebow.
Tebow reportedly met with the man's wife, supporting her and praying with her, according to a post from Richard V. Gotti on Facebook.
"He (Tebow) met with the family as they cried on his shoulder! I watched Tim pray with the entire section of the plane for this man. He made a stand for God in a difficult situation," posted Gotti.
The plane landed in Phoenix and that was the first time they got a pulse back, stated Gotti.
"Thank God that we still have people of faith who in times of difficulty look to the Lord!" he declared.
One Instagram user stated Tebow even helped the couple deplane and got their baggage for them. Medical staff met the flight at the gate when it landed at its destination in Phoenix. The man survived, reports WFIN.
Delta Airlines confirmed the medical emergency and passenger/crew response to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but would not release the names of any passengers involved, including Tebow. ABC News' Jeffrey Cook confirmed the account with Tebow's representative.
Tebow currently works as an analyst for ESPN.
