The Seattle Seahawks are said to be on the lookout for a potential backup quarterback for Russell Wilson. While the Christian star has proven his ability to remain healthy throughout a season, the competitiveness and aggressiveness of the NFL still pose dangers to the quarterback. Hence, the Kam Chancellor squad are looking for football stars who can mesh well with Russell Wilson and the rest of the Seattle Seahawks team. After months of searching, is Tim Tebow finally the answer to the backup QB needs of the former Super Bowl champs?
Although Tim Tebow has yet to officially return to the NFL, the former Heisman Trophy winner never lacked fans who backed his standing in the league. While a number of free agent quarterbacks are available in the market, rumors are rife that Tim Tebow will be the perfect backup for Russell Wilson.
It is no secret that both Wilson and Tebow are devout Christians. The football stars have been quite open with the advocacies. Moreover, Wilson and Tebow have faced the endless criticisms from people who question their faith and skills in the gridiron. However, both quarterbacks emerged victorious over their critics.
Can the guidance and support then of Russell Wilson be just what Tim Tebow need to once again make it in the NFL? Can the Seattle Seahawks star help the former Denver Broncos quarterback return to his former glory?
"He has had a great camp," said Pete Carroll of Russell Wilson. The Seattle Seahawks head coach added, "You guys have asked me, 'When's he going to arrive?' or 'How long is it going to take?' and all that, and I kept telling you, it's going to be down the road. It takes four, five, six years -- you don't know -- for these guys to develop. He has made a clear step ahead. His command is all-time. His ability to move defenders with his eyes to set up some things -- he's consistently doing that, almost unconsciously, he's so clued in. We saw him throw the ball all over the field throughout the offseason and he's been strong and accurate and really precise about stuff. He has had a great offseason.”
Carroll also noted that Wilson is now a certified NFL veteran. Given the accomplishments of the quarterback, who has been repeatedly compared to Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers, Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts and Drew Bees of the New Orleans Saints, the Seattle Seahawks head coach believes that Wilson managed to surpass the expectations.
He said, "This is year five. It has taken all of this time to get to this point, and he'll still improve, but you can really see him as a real true vet now. I think coming off of last year, with the great success of the second half of the season, he has taken it right in the offseason and here we go. It's been our best offseason and I think it's an indication of the development of our guys."
What do you think? Will Tim Tebow fit in the Seattle Seahawks playbook? Can Russell Wilson help the former Denver Broncos star prove his mettle in the gridiron? Or should Tim Tebow just stick to his TV shows and programs?
