Phil Robertson, the star of the reality show "Duck Dynasty" and founder of Duck Commander, revealed how drastically his lifestyle changed after becoming a Christian. According to him, he used to be a non-believer who strongly opposed the faithful.
Robertson made the inspiring revelation in a documentary produced and released by I am Second, a movement that spreads awareness about the teachings of God through real-life stories. In the video, which is about 26 minutes long, Robertson patriarch narrated how he turned to Jesus and made a conscious decision to change and improve his life.
During his younger years, he used to give Christians a hard time especially when they tried to share with him God's teachings. He even recalled a significant moment in his life when a man carrying a Bible walked into his bar to talk about the Gospel. However, Robertson immediately asked him to leave.
"He wanted to introduce me to Jesus," he said in the video. "I ran him away."
But then one day, he got into a physical altercation inside the bar which eventually led to him running away from law enforcers. The incident apparently became so serious that he had to hide from the cops by staying in the woods, forcing him to leave his wife Miss Kay and his family for a couple of months.
According to Robertson, that's when he realized that he needed salvation.
"You're all alone," he said. "No hope. Miserable. That's when I began to seriously contemplate: 'Is there a way out of all this?'"
He then decided to return to his family and through their help he was able to get in touch with the man he once forced to leave his bar. As they talked about the Bible, Robertson began to learn about Jesus' sacrifice.
"I didn't even know what the Gospel of Jesus was," he shared. "How in the world did I ever miss that? I had missed it. I was blown away when I heard that Jesus died for me, was buried and raised from the dead."
"Something so simple, but profound," he added. "I had never heard it."
He then noted that that's when he decided to get baptized and live his life as a true Christian.
