‘Tom Clancy’s The Division’ The Dark Zone and Tips on How to Survive

Ubisoft really had a lot of issues when it came to Tom Clancy's The Division, which resulted in a massive delay.  The Massively Multiplayer Online game has been out since the beginning of this month, and it has been getting some good reviews.  The game is all about a deadly virus unleashed on New York City (on Black Friday of all days) resulting in the fall of civilization, and players are finding a lot of troubles in an area called The Dark Zone.  Here's some information about Tom Clancy's The Division's The Dark Zone and some Tips of How to Survive.

Tom Clancy's The Division begins with the player being dropped off in Manhattan in Hudson Park, and then the player does some side missions and finding a base of operations.  The Dark Zone has no explanation, but it is a red area on the map of the city.

The Dark Zone was originally created by the JTF (Joint Task Force) faction as it was a way to quarantine the initial spread, but it was unsuccessful.  As a result, a lot of gangs moved in, and the military left their best gear behind this fenced off area.  A lot of players have discovered a lot of terrific stuff there, but it is really difficult to get it.

In fact, the player will notice that before he or she enters, there will be a chance to purchase some new gear and refill ammo for the guns that you do have.  Once you get to the gear, head over to the Extraction Zone where the player sends up a flare and wait for the helicopter to show up.  Sadly, it usually takes 90 seconds for the helicopter to show up, and you can be somewhat vulnerable there.

A recent posting on Gotta Be Mobile gives advice on how to survive in the Dark Zone. Many have suggested not going into the Dark Zone alone, but if you do, play it safe and not take on any large groups or other agents.  For those that go in with a group, it is advised not to crowd an Extraction Zone as it makes the group a target for a grenade.  It also recommended to not stand in the center of an Extraction Zone waiting to get gear out, but to take cover and run to the line when it is necessary.

Then there is general advice like being aware of your surroundings, as people in the Dark Zone are generally untrustworthy.  Also, use some emotes to communicate with players in the Dark Zone that don't have a headset.

All in all, there is a lot to be found in The Dark Zone, and if you are careful, you can get away with a lot of stuff there.  If not, then others will be killing you and getting your gear.
