Less than a week before their expected launch on February 21, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge models have once again been leaked. This time, the flagship duo is featured in new renders showing the color variants they will come in.
Not long after sharing a purported official photo of the much awaited Samsung flagship, serial leakster Evan Blass has shared more images of the devices on his Twitter account "@evleaks." In a photo (shown above) he captioned with "eye candy," the curved Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will apparently come in three different color variants; Black, Gold, and Platinum (or Silver). Blass has quite a solid track record when it comes to leaked information about unannounced devices, so there should be little doubt that what consumers see in these photos is what Samsung is going to show off at its upcoming event.
While its curved sibling can be expected to come in three colors, the standard Galaxy S7 (seen below) will only come in two, Black and Gold. It is possible that these are just the colors that the model will be widely available in at first, as the South Korean tech giant often release more color options to other markets a few months after a device is released.
Upon seeing the pictures, it can be observed that the Galaxy S7 Edge does look to be notably taller than the S7. The standard model is expected to arrive with a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display sporting 1440 x 2560 resolution while the larger S7 Edge will come with a 5.5-inch screen with similar specs.
Previous reports indicated that, under the hood, the devices will be powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Samsung's own Exynos 8890 processor partnered with 4GB RAM. The Galaxy S7 will supposedly be juiced up by a battery with 3,000mAh capacity and the S7 Edge with the 3,600mAh－an increase of 450 and 1,000 mAh, respectively, from their predecessors.
Furthermore, the handsets are rumored to be dust- and waterproof, feature a hybrid dual SIM slot, and provide support for microSD cards with storage of up to 200GB. The models are also said to sport a 12-megapixel main camera.
Late last month, the company announced that it will be hosting its "Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016" event on February 21, in time for the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 that will be held in Barcelona, Spain. As mentioned, the event is highly expected to be where the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be unveiled. Pre-orders for both models are reportedly going live on the same day while the worldwide release is expected to be on March 11.
