Dave Green's upcoming adventure film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" has been revealed at the Super Bowl 2016 and it confirmed the appearance of Kragen and Rocksteady, among others.
The Super Bowl trailer opens with Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael, with the latter asking what the most important traits of the ninja are. Leonardo replies speed, stealth, and precision, while showing them on a truck with long arms that they sed to hit an enemy's car, with Michaelangelo inadvertently pushing the truck arms toward a the head of an underpass, causing the destruction of the metallic weapon .
The trailer also sees the titular characters in water as they jump and splash. The scene was followed by a sequence featuring Megan Fox's April O'Neil as she walks and Brian Tee's Shredder as he shows off his blades, shocking his company. Fans also get to see two masked characters brawling and one of them is Stephen Amell's Casey Jones with his hockey stick and puck.
Then, the next sequence shows a structure presumably coming from another dimension, which is followed by a scene with the four ninja turtles up against a cyborg creature. Michaelangelo knocks on the glass part of the cyborg suit until a pink creature with a purple-irised eye reveals himself, shocking Michaelangelo in fear. The sequence develops to the mutant turtles in combat with their old foe.
The rhinoceros named Rocksteady, played by Stephen Farrelly, is also featured in the Super Bowl trailer. Behind him is Bebop the pig, played by Gary Anthony Williams, and is riding on a tricycle. Rocksteady looks very furious that he appears ready to destroy everything while running towards a man, who looks unaware that he is coming.
The trailer also sees the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on a plane, with Donatello asking where Raphael (Raph) is. Flying up above, Raphael unsuccessfully knock himself outside the plane's front window and falls.
Overall, the Super Bowl trailer for Green's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" features a blend of dynamic action and light comedic tone.
According to Cinema Blend, the trailer gives fans their first look at Krang, an old enemy of the turtles. It is yet to be known whether Green's Krang comes from the outer space or is a product of an experiment. In "Star Wars" visual-effects supervisor Pablo Helman's previous interview with Rolling Stone, he said that Krang would not have his tentacles in the film, describing him as "too monster-ish."
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" follows Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael as they go back to the city and save it from a dangerous threat.
The film stars the voices of Johnny Knoxville as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Noel Fisher as Michaelangelo, and Alan Ritchson as Raphael. Other members of the cast include Alessandra Ambrossio, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Laura Linner, Stephen Amell, and Megan Fox, among others.
With Green at the helm of the film, Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Peter Laird, and Kevin Eastman are on board to pen the screenplay.
Green's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on June 3, 2016.
