The epic match between Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 is around the corner. Aside from finding out whether the Panthers can have the ability to claim the title for the first time in history, many are also excited about the slew of entertainment surrounding the event.
The 2016 Super Bowl is destined to be another sporting event worth remembering not only for the hot match, but also for the halftime shows. This year, both Coldplay and Beyonce are set to perform. No doubt the two have their own set of fans so viewership will be a cinch. Since forming in 1966, Coldplay already snatched up seven Grammy Awards. Their chart-topping hits include "Yellow," "Fix You," "Viva La Vida."
Beyonce on the other hand, recently collaborated with Coldplay for two songs, "Hymn for the Weekend" and "Up and Up." The two songs will be featured on the band's newest album, "A Head Full of Dreams." This will be her second Super Bowl appearance, the first one back in 2013. Her halftime show in New Orleans is still being talked about today, where she was joined by her former band members Kelly Rowland as well as Michelle Williams.
Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin shared what can be expected of their halftime show. According to Martin, the show will have similar elements as NFL's "On the Fifty" campaign. Their show will remember the past, celebrate the present, and look ahead to the next five decades. "In an ideal world, we'd like to somehow honor the past, celebrate the present and look to the future," Martin told Entertainment Tonight. "It's the greatest moment of our band's life. We're going to give it everything we have."
If the halftime show goes well on Sunday, Coldplay will be included in the list of well-regarded performers who graced the Superbowl. Included smog these great halftime acts are those delivered by The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Tom Petty, and Katy Perry among others.
Perry's performance last year is still quite fresh on people's minds. She went onstage atop a giant mechanical Tiger and was joined by dancing sharks. The performance currently stands as the most watched halftime show in the history. As many as 118.5 million viewers tuned in for that epic show.
