The release date for the Chevrolet Camaro has been revealed, along with its specifications.
According to 2016 Cars Reviews, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is going to be launched in the early part of the year. Serving as competitor to the latest Mustang, the new version of Chevrolet Camaro is set to have the upper hand, along with its glossy body, enhanced platform, new engines, including its new interior and exterior.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is set to feature the absence of the big wide grille, along with the small lights, to give way to a smaller grille that resembles the model's second generation. The new headlights of the car are set to be smaller in size, as compared to those on the present generation. In addition, these lights are going to be broader, thus, the surface are are also going to be larger. It is also noted that the car will have a wider, but lower body.
The chassis of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is going to come from a different platform, along with independent suspension around the car. Also, the car brakes are set to be supplied by automotive brake systems manufacturer Brembo, which allows greater enhancements versus its predecessors. The said chassis also weights about 200 pounds lighter than its predecessor, though it is more rigid in form. The set is aimed at delivering maximum performance gains.
As for the engine, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is set to present a blend of old and new versions. The base engine of the model is reportedly sticking to the 3.6-liter aspirated V6 from its predecessor, which is capable of generating around 305 horsepower (HP) and torque of up to 270 lb-ft.
Developed in Europe, the engine is also bound to have a new 2-liter turbocharged inline, which can generate as much as 250 HP and 265 lb-ft or torque. In addition, the model's engine is set to consume nearly 40 percent less fuel than the V6, with the same performance. It is also probable for the model to have a European 2.8-liter twin turbocharged V6 from Opel, which can yield up to 400 Hp and 380 lb-ft of torque.
The top of the range engine is also set to be similar to the Corvette; thus, a 6.2-liter aspirated V8 can yield between 460 and 500 HP and up to 500 lb-ft of torque. Hence, it is assumed that the car would run faster than the Mustang.
According to Chevrolet's official website, the upcoming car model is going to be incorporated with performance technology, allowing the use of contemporary techs, such as a wireless smartphone charger, a Head-Up Display, and Apple CarPlay.
About its price, Chevrolet Camaro's base model is expected to go around $25,000. As per the publication, the price is more inclined to affordability, when compared to the Mustang's new model and Toyota's new GT86.
As per the editors from Motor Authority, it is agreed that the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is the best car to buy.
