With Bryan Singer's Marvel Comics film "X-Men: Apocalypse" coming to theaters soon, a new "X-Men" group photo has surfaced online, and it features the mutants and the supervillain, Apocalypse.
The photo was tweeted by Universo X-Men on Feb. 4. It features a bald Charles Xavier/Professor X in front and behind him are Archangel, Storm, Psylocke, Magneto, Raven, Quicksilver, Beast, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler. Behind the mutants stands the supervillain Apocalypse.
In the caption, it was written "#XMENAPOCALYPSE: WOW! Nova divulgacai do filme de X-Men: Apocalipse! #xmen #marvel"
According to Cinema Blend, the latest "X-Men: Apocalypse" photo gives fans the best look so far at their costumes. As per the publication, the current suits of the X-Men resemble those the original "X-Men" trilogy, the black and leathery iteration.
Among the films of the "X-Men" trilogy, "X-Men: First Class" gave the closest looks of the mutants in "X-Men: Apocalypse," with the former featuring jumpsuits colored blue and yellow.
Based on the mutants' looks in "X-Men: Apocalypse," it is assumed that the 1980s costume of the mutants did not adapt the brighter ones, as popularized in the comics.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" serves as the next installment of the "X-Men" film franchise, after "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The film centers on the rise of En Sabah Nur, also known as Apocalypse. When the supervillain recruits his Four Horsemen for his massive destruction plan, the X-Men felt the urge to be united to defeat him.
Set in 1983, "X-Men: Apocalypse" will see Apocalypse in a world he views as a polluted place, which needs cleansing. Instead of a human versus mutant premise, as showcased by previous "X-Men" films, "X-Men: Apocalypse" is also set to see unity between mutants and humans as they work hand in hand to defeat his evil plans.
The film stars Tomas Lemarquis, Anthony Konechny, Rochelle Okoye, Ben Hardy, Lana Condor, Monique Ganderton, Josh Helman, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lucas Till, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Rose Byrne, Michael Fassbender, Olivia Munn, Jennifer Lawrence, and Turner. James McAvoy is playing Charles Xavier/Professor X while Oscar Isaac is set to play the titular supervillain Apocalypse.
With Singer at the helm of the film, Simon Kinberg is on board to pen the film screenplay, along with Dan Harris, Michael Doughtery, Simon Kinberg, for the story. Stan Lee, Todd Hallowell, Kathleen McGill, Josh McLaglen, John Ottman, and Lauren Shuler Donner are set to produce the film.
It is assumed Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" is pressure by the box office results of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," as the latter made more than $747 million globally following its release on May 23, 2014. The film grossed more than $233 million in the United States and made more than $513 million in other countries, as per Box Office Mojo.
Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 27, 2016.
