With Tim Miller's Marvel Comics film "Deadpool" coming to theaters this year, it is revealed that the mutant Colossus is set to appear in the film only in his metal form.
Greg Lasalle, Colossus' facial actor, told Comic Book that the character would remain in his metallic form for the entirety of the film. He mention that he did not know if people had known that, adding that people would not see Colossus' human form in Miller's "Deadpool." According to Lasalle, retaining a full metal Colossus throughout the film was much easier for the filmmakers, since all they had needed to do was to get an emotion out of the actor without being concenred about the look of the character in post.
The absence of Colossus' human form in Miller's "Deadpool" spells a huge deviation from the previous "X-Men" films, such as "X2: X-Men United," "X-Men: The Last Stand," and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," according to Cinema Blend. In the previous films, fans were always able to witness how Daniel Cudmore transformed from a human to his full metal form.
In the previous Deadpool clip, Angel Dust made Colossus face touch the soil, which is assumed to be an interesting element, considering Colossus' size. He is one of the strongest and most physically intimidating mutants in the "X-Men" universe, among others and fans are presumably stunned by the sequence.
Created by writer Len Wein and illustrator Dave Cockrum, Colossus first appeared in "Giant-Size X-Men #1" in May 1975. He stands at 200 centimeters even without his powers and he has been viewed as an honest, innocent, and quiet man. He is reluctant in using his powers in a fight, with a belief that he should use them for the betterment of humans and mutants.
Miller's "Deadpool" centers on Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative who had cancer metastasis in his body. He turned to a mercenary after he agreed to be a subject in a rogue experiment that gave him boosted healing powers and extraordinary skills set, leading him to adapt the alter ego Deadpool. "Deadpool" has an R-rating due to its level of violence, profanity, and sex, which is not present in other Marvel Comics films. This makes the film one of a kind, bringing a new sort of spice in Marvel's Cinematic Universe.
"Tears of Sale" actor Stefan Kapicic is set to play the role of the huge metallic mutant. Along with him, the film stars Brianna Hildebrand, Rachel Sheen, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Rachel Sheen, Morena Baccarin, and Ryan Reynolds as Wilson/Deadpool. With Miller at the helm of the film, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are also on board to help in penning the film screenplay.
Miller's "Deadpool" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on Feb. 12.
