Alessandro Carloni and Jennifer Yuh Nelson's animated action adventure film "Kung Fu Panda 3" has reached its United States market and it topped the box office last weekend, along with positive reviews from the audience.
According to Screen Rant, "Kung Fu Panda 3" was a well-meaning piece of escapism for kids, showing signs of wear in a wider computer-animated kung fu franchise. As per the publication, the film showcases a colorful adventure parents could use as a distraction to their children. It has also been added that the film is beautiful overall, with adorable characters and "digestible gags" that would keep the young audience entertained.
"Kung Fu Panda 3" is worth seeing in 3D as an emotional and drastic "trilogy capper" while it provides a tinge of brightness to the film saga and exhibits themes like self-knowledge and perseverance to actuality, as per Variety. According to the publication, "Kung Fu Panda 3" is comparable to "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi," despite a "long over-due" family reunion that pushes the story into borderline-Ewok territory.
After its release on Jan. 29, "Kung Fu Panda 3" got a domestic gross of $41 million and a foreign gross of more than $75 million, which sum up to a total gross of more than $116 million globally, according to Box Office Mojo. Alejandro Gomez Inarritu's "The Revenant" follows at the second spot with more than $12 million while J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" comes third with more than $10.7 million.
While "Kung Fu Panda 3" has its positive reviews, it also has its negative. According to Cinema Blend, the film was the weakest feature installment of the "Kung Fu Panda" franchise. However, it managed to define the quality of the film franchise than the "failings" of its latest chapter, as per the publication.
Overall, the animated action adventure film has received a positive response from the audience, since it got an 80 percent rating in Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer and an A rating from Cinema Score.
"Kung Fu Panda 3" serves as the third film installment of the "Kung Fu Panda" franchise. It centers on the panda bear Po, who realizes that he had many to learn if he was going to complete the next challenge from his mentor.
