After a month-long journey, ABC's mid-season musical comedy series is coming to a close on Sunday. Galavant's season 2 is expected to showcase violence, romance, and lots of comedy as all of the remaining characters will meet on the battlefield for control of the kingdom of Valencia and everything in between.
The show's premier season ended with a number of cliffhangers, so fans should expect nothing less in its sophomore season finale. All of the characters, who started so far apart in season 2, are finally converging. This weekend's two-part finale will be titled"Battle of the Three Armies" for episode 9, and "The One True King (To Unite Them All)" for episode 10.
Galavant's official TV Guide Season 2 finale synopsis reads, "In the first half of a combined, one-hour Season 2 finale, Isabella is ready to give up against Valencia until Galavant arrives with his zombie army. In the second half hour, Madalena and Wormwood's spell could turn the tide of the war, but Sid has other ideas; and Richard is inspired to perform something approaching a heroic act."
In "Battle of the Three Armies," it seems that all hopes are lost for Princess Isabella and the people of Hortensia in their battle against Valencia. That is until Galavant arrives with his zombie army. Gareth will also abandon Queen Madalena after realizing her betrayal and that she has been using the "Dark Dark Evil Way."
The final episode will reveal how the army of the undead, under Madalena and Wormwood's spell, will revolt against Galavant until Sid, his squire, arrives with an unlikely army of his own. The two, along with Gareth, will fight the zombies while Isabella takes on Madalena. Meanwhile, King Richard will go after the sorcerer Chester Wormwood. The latter will attack Tad Cooper which will result to the king performing an almost heroic act.
As ABC's musical fantasy is wrapping its second-year staging this Sunday, Timothy Omundson, who plays King Richard, recently spoke to TV Line to discuss one of the series' popular source of comedic reaction in social media-Omundson's beard.
"Love the facial hair. My wife is not as crazy about it. She doesn't like it when I go hobo chic," Omundson told TV Line. "The funny thing is that when I was doing Psych, I was such a clean-cut character and the second we would go on hiatus I would start growing what became known as 'the hiatus beard,' and I would literally tweet out pictures."
The show's season 2 finale will air on the ABC channel on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. EST. It can also be watched online via ABC Go. Fans who cannot wait for the last two episodes can check out Galavant's season 2 finale sneak peek shared by E! Online.
