With "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" just around the corner, more and meatier details on the movie are now being released. The latest ones are from the very lips of Henry Cavill, who plays Superman.
Speaking with Empire Magazine (via We Got This Covered), Cavill revealed how his character will fare in combat with Batman. He claimed Superman is not the inexperienced superhero people once knew him to be in "Man of Steel." He can, therefore, definitely hold his own against Batman.
Cavill revealed that Superman is now more experienced as a superhero so he will not be committing the blunders he once committed. Superman is also doing his best to save as many lives as he can. As such, he is now more calm about the whole business. "He is no longer frantic. He's no longer a wet behind the ears kind of superhero," Cavill revealed.
Even if Batman is essentially doing the same - saving lives and being the superhero the world needs him to be, Superman is said to be unimpressed with Batman's methods. Therefore, the two are naturally going to butt heads. ""He doesn't agree with [Batman's] form of justice. For this farm boy, who tries to do things the right way, justice at any cost is not something he can come to terms with. It's not about one on one. Of course, Superman is going to win. But it's deeper than that. It's more that these two great powers exist and are actually trying to achieve the same thing, but in such different way..." Cavill explained.
It is not a hidden fact that Cavill is set to play Superman after Christopher Reeve had so much fun with the role already. However, Cavill is positive he can deliver something Reeve was not able to, pulling off a great Superman performance. Foremost, he is going to avoid doing what Reeve's Clark Kent did, acting all clumsy and insignificant just to hide his true identity. He said that it is certainly not going to work.
He already explained this in an earlier interview with French magazine Studio Cine Live (via Batman-News). He said that instead of acting clumsy, he will just act invisible. Clumsy just make people take more notice, he said. "My Clark Kent is trying to be as small and invisible as possible. If you're awkward and spilling things constantly, people are going to notice you, and that's not the best way to go unseen. You have to admit, it's not a remarkable disguise, just a pair of glasses. He'd like to think that no one will believe he could be Superman. How could such a delicate flower be a living god? Preposterous," he scoffed.
