Apple updated its MacBook Pro range in early 2015, so users are expecting the company to do the same this year. Now, even with limited information, an upgrade from the present fifth-generation Broadwell chipsets to the newer Intel Skylake is expected to be fitted with Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 release, according to MacWorld. Integrating Skylake will also allow the company's complete lineup to run on the same core hardware from end to end, so a Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) launch this June could be possible.
When it comes to aesthetic design, tech observers are not anticipating any remodeling to the upcoming MacBook Pro. Only its interior will likely be upgraded, as references within the El Capitan code suggest that an internal overhaul could be in the works.
Back in December, CBS aired an interview with Apple executive Bruce Sewell in a show called "60 Minutes." Viewers reportedly saw a MacBook placed on a desk in the background. The device was purportedly the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 and displayed a Saturn wallpaper which the company has been using for its recent promotions.
Furthermore, some reports challenge the WWDC release in June, claiming that the new MacBook Pro will be unveiled on March. The 13-inch variant will reportedly be the introduced on March 9 while the larger 15-inch version will be presented on March 19.
An updated model of Apple's thinner and lighter lineup, the MacBook Air 2016, will likely be announced a few months after the MacBook Pro. The company announced last year that the model will arrive at retail shelves in November, but that did not happen. It is now expected to be released in Spring 2016 to give way for the recently launched iPad Pro.
As mentioned, the upgraded MacBook Air is predicted to house an Intel Skylake processor partnered with the tech giant's proprietary OS X El Capitan operating system. It will also sport improved graphics, RAM capacity and battery life. The device is believed to pack tougher security features such as new biometric scanners for online transactions like Apple Pay payments. It will also be integrated with the Touch ID feature within its trackpad along with Force Touch. There are rumors that the 11-inch version may disappear from the lineup, but users may still choose between two different versions as the laptop is set to have a 13-inch and 15-inch variant.
