"Mortal Kombat XL" is coming to PS4 and Xbox One. Fans need not wait that long too because it has a release date of less than two months away.
"Mortal Kombat 9" and "Mortal Kombat X" were both successful games, especially among 90s kids, who have longed to see their favorite game when they were younger. "Mortal Kombat X" managed to bring in newer generation fans with its enhanced graphics, gruesome new fatalities, and familiar opponents culled from quite popular horror films.
Release Date
According to Screen Rant, fans should be excited because Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment just announced that there will be "Mortal Kombat XL." The more exciting news is that the game will be made available for both PS4 and Xbox One gaming consoles. The release date given is March 1, 2016. The game is not coming to PC though, for reasons that have yet to be explained.
Features
The game will be equipped with the full original game plus materials already available before in the form of purchasable downloadable content, including various playable characters. Included in these characters are Xenomorph, Leatherface, Triborg, and Bo'Rai Cho characters. These four come from the still unreleased Kombat Pact 2 expansion. Apart from these four characters, others include Goro, Jason Vorhees, Tanya, The Predator, and Tremor. The Brazil, Kold War, Samurai, and Apocalypse skin packs will also be thrown in on this definitive edition.
Like other definitive editions, "Mortal Kombat XL" will allow gamers to catch up on previous downloadable content they have missed or ignored the first time they were repel eased. Whether they are 90s kids just starting to take notice now or newer generation kids hearing about the game for the first time, purchasers of "Mortal Kombat XL" will be able to have a fully-loaded Mortal Kombat gaming experience, as promised by the developers.
Pricing
Game Spot has learned that "Mortal Kombat XL" will sell for $60 for both Xbox One and PS4 consoles. The price already covers both the base game and the two DLC Kombat Packs. The Kombat Pack will be sold at $20 on its own, which is cheaper by $10 compared to the first pack. For those with the game but none of the DLC, the XL Pack can be purchased for $25, which already consists of both Kombat Packs.
"Mortal Kombat XL" just cinched Warner Bros' aggressive plans to revive "Mortal Kombat" as a multimedia brand. Aside from being a great game, the franchise includes a web-series and an upcoming feature film.
