The holiday season has always presented a challenge to people to stick to their diet and exercise routines. Given the jovial and celebratory mood of Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year, everyone tends to partake in indulging on the sumptuous meals served. Although the drinks and the food contribute to grander and prolonged celebrations, these consequently negatively affect the body.
Once the holiday season is over, people begin to realize the extent of which they indulged. Diet plans are now hastily made to remedy the issues of jeans that could no longer be buttoned or blouses that have become too tight. The public should not panic, though, as even Hollywood stars face these challenges. Hence, anyone interested in creating a weight loss plan this year could take inspiration from some celebrities.
Jennifer Aniston
In an interview with Yahoo Food, Jennifer Aniston shares the secret behind her toned frame. According to Brad Pitt's ex-wife, she never allows herself to indulge too much. By controlling her food intake throughout the year, Aniston is never subjected to the need to undergo intense dieting and exercise. She also disciplines her consumption by sticking to organic fruits and vegetables.
"I don't let eating habits get out of control where I need a reset button. My general philosophy is to eat healthy," shared Aniston. The actress added, "It's pretty clear: eat as much organic fruits and veggies as you can, keep sugar [intake] low, drink tons and tons of water, and get good sleep."
Aniston, who is the brand ambassador of Smartwater, also takes the time to do yoga and engage in cardio exercises to keep herself fit and healthy. However, the Hollywood star is not above giving in to the temptation of food. Now and then, Aniston admits to allowing herself to veer from her diet plans. Despite this, the actress shares that she still avoids certain food groups.
"I allow myself to indulge once in a while," she revealed. Aniston added, "I'm good at keeping my starches to a minimum. I don't like 'white' foods, and I'll always cut back on some bread if I'm trying to slim down for something special. But I don't give myself any rules anymore."
Gwyneth Paltrow
The estranged wife of Coldplay's Chris Martin, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, has been hailed as the most outspoken person on healthy diet and clean living. With her penchant for advocating healthier alternatives to common meals, Paltrow eventually gained a following among health buffs. She also earned the respect of those starting out in their weight loss plans as the healthy dishes she concocts remain tasty.
For the year 2016, Paltrow posted a detox plan for the followers in her health website, called GOOP. She outlined a menu that eliminates caffeine and alcohol. Paltrow also encouraged her readers to lay off on gluten, dairy, corn and soy. Even red meat, shellfish and white rice are off the table. The actress also wanted her readers to get rid of nightshades such as tomatoes, eggplants, peppers and potatoes.
"Once you get through the first few days of caffeine withdrawal (some people might experience dry heaving -- if this is you, see Dr. Junger's piece on adrenal fatigue), sticking to the meal plan won't make you feel like you're depriving yourself of anything," advised Paltrow. She added, "If you can't cook, it's easy to make a clean meal at any salad bar: Focus on whole veggies, lean proteins and dressing like olive oil and lemon."
Oprah Winfrey
The public has been made privy to the weight loss challenges of Oprah Winfrey. Her weight, which tends to yoyo every few months, has been the focus of Queen O recently. Her efforts to finally shed the unwanted pounds included joining the Weight Watchers. In her recent interviews, Oprah shared that she had not gained weight during the holiday season. In fact, the queen of talk shows even managed to lose pounds despite the tempting food around her.
"[I'm] so excited because today was my Weight Watchers weigh-in and for the first time in the history of my adult life since I was like 23, 24, I did not gain a pound during the holidays," said Oprah in a Facebook video. She added, "Usually, I gain 8 to 10 [pounds] from Thanksgiving to New Year's." She revealed that she lost three pounds during the break due to her adherence the "smart points" system of the Weight Watchers.
