As Anna Duggar attempts to heal from the heartbreak resulting from her husband's infidelity and pornography addiction, a Christian blogger has offered her a word of encouragement, praising the former "19 Kids and Counting" star for showing Christ's love and forgiveness to a "wretched sinner".
In an open letter published on her personal blog and shared on the Duggar family's official web page, Lori Alexander explained that she has mentored women for ten years, and thus felt compelled to encourage Anna with Biblical wisdom.
"I can't even begin to comprehend the pain you must be going through. I grieve with you along with many in the body of Christ," she wrote.
Josh Duggar, 27, the star has made headlines throughout the year after it was revealed that he had molested some of his underage sisters and other girls as a young teen. A short time later, reports surfaced about his secret addiction to porn and his infidelity.
Josh subsequently checked himself into a faith-based rehabilitation center, leaving Anna to tend to their four children. In November, an adult movie star, simply known as Danica Dillon, sued Josh for allegedly assaulting her during a paid intimate encounter, seeking $500,000 in damages.
In continuing her letter, Alexander urged Anna to remember she is not responsible for her husband's lack of discretion, pointing out that all people have the free will to choose to walk in the Spirit or walk in the flesh.
"A good friend of mine whose husband was deeply addicted to porn told me she believed the lie that her husband looked elsewhere because she wasn't good enough, pretty enough, sexy enough or because her body is not what it used to be before she bore children," the blog wrote. "Most women are highly insecure about their appearance and a feeling of inadequacy is almost always their first line of defense. Your husband did NOT fall so deeply into sin because of you but because He allowed the enemy a foothold in his life long before you were married."
However, Alexander praised Anna for refusing to divorce her husband and forgiving him despite his ungodly behavior.
This will be a huge witness to a watching world of God's patience and love for His children the church," she wrote. "You are showing Christ's love and forgiveness to a wretched sinner as we all once were before being washed in His blood and made new creatures in Him. He now even calls us saints!"
In concluding her letter, Alexander reminded the mother-of-four that she is not alone, as there are many women who are "praying for you and grieving for the pain you are in."
"We will continue to cover you, your children and the whole extended family in prayer for it hurts them all," she added. "Continue to rest in the Lord's loving arms and seek solace and guidance from Him and His Word. God heals the brokenhearted as well as the broken. He is a good and just God. You are a beautiful woman and God will walk with you through every step of this journey. He most likely will be carrying you."
