One of the most anticipated releases of the year in the smartphone market is the Samsung Galaxy S7. Here is a roundup of the rumored specs and details of the incoming Samsung offering.

Allegedly, there is a high possibility that the Galaxy S7 will be announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The said event will take place from Feb 22 to 25 of this year. This is of course, still unconfirmed.

Release Date

Seeing that the Samsung Galaxy S7 is designed to be something highly sought for, it is possible that the company would rather schedule its won event to proceed this tradeshow. Samsung can even cook up something entirely different from what it used to do when announcing new phones so that users can be caught by surprise - and who does not like to be surprised?

If it does follow its policy from previous years and announce the handset in Spain, then those who cannot wait to get hold of the new smartphone can get it at some point in March.

Design

When it comes to its rumored design, reports alleged that it would look significantly different from the Galaxy S6. Instead of a revolution, the S7 will be an evolution - something no one has seen yet. According to some case renders, the S7 might have a front-facing camera at the top right-hand corner of the phone. A slimmer home button is also very possible. Like the S6 variants, however, the Galaxy S7 may also come in both the flat screen and curved screen options.

Display

When it comes to the S7 display, rumors have it that the new phone will not come with better resolution compared to the S6. While progress in resolution is often anticipated for new phones, reports alleged that this time, Samsung will just retain the  5.1-inch 2,560×1,440 Super AMOLED screen in the S6 and S6 Edge.

'3D Touch' Feature?

Even if the resolution stays the same, it is expected that Samsung will also introduce the same similar pressure-sensitive technology now available in the iPhone 6S variants: the 3D Touch. There is a high possibility that this will be the case because the Korean company has access to Synaptics' new ClearForce technology.

Chipsets

Same as it has traditionally done, reports alleged that Samsung might have different chipsets for models indented for different regions. Therefore, Asian consumers can expect a different process from their Western counterparts. Some reports claimed that it is highly likely that Samsung will make use of its proprietary Exynos Technology in Samsung Galaxy S7 units sold in East Asia while using Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 820 chip for the handsets available for Western consumers. Also, the chipset sold within Asia can also differ among the countries in the region.

OS

Android will still be the operation system of the Galaxy S7 but an improved variant. Many expect that the units will ship with Android Marshmallow already.

Battery Life

When it comes to battery life, which can break or make a smartphone in the eyes of the users, many expect the S7 to have improved battery life. According to VentureBeat, the Galaxy S7 might be equipped with  3,000mAh battery while the Galaxy S7 Edge will feature a 3,600mAh battery. Both phones are designed to heavy usage.

Camera

The Galaxy S7 might have a 12.2 MP camera. Interestingly, this is inferior to earlier models. However, instead of being alarming and disappointing, the camera just might take much better photographs in low-light conditions aided by the new BRITECELL technology as detailed by Value Walk. After all, megapixels are not everything when it comes to camera quality.

Price

Lastly, when it comes to the price, it is expected that the units will be sold primarily at the launching prices of S6 and S6 Edge. Samsung anticipates that the smartphone industry will even be more competitive this year, so being wise on pricing is a must.
