Kim Kardashian West's followers might have a new opportunity of keeping up with the reality television superstar. The 35-year-old is already an avid Twitter and Instagram user, but it appears that she is also interested in a new platform, a messaging application called Snapchat.
Earlier this week, Kardashian-West appeared in a short Snapchat video posted to DJ Khaled's Instagram account. The famous DJ hinted that she was considering joining the messaging and social media application. In the clip, Kim appears embarrassed, slightly covering her face with her hands as Khaled says, "Ayo Kim, they don't want you to wear the Saint Laurent fur. They don't want you to break the app store. They don't want you to be the biggest boss in the game. So what we gone do is we gone win more."
Kylie Jenner is the only one in the family who has a public account on the social media app as of now. It should be noted, though, that Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner have often made cameos through Kylie's account.
Snapchat is a mobile messaging application that allows users to take photos, record videos, add text and drawings to them and send them to a list of recipients. The app became extremely popular through its unique "ephemeral" feature, which allows senders to set a time limit for how long the photos and videos, or what users call "Snaps," can be viewed by recipients.
The application is updated with changes and improvements frequently and at present, users can set the time limit from 1 to 10 seconds. After which, the developers claim that the content will be deleted from their servers. According to the company behind the app, its users were sending up to 6 billion photos and videos per day as of November last year. Depending on the source, Snapchat Inc. has a valuation of $10 to $20 billion.
The reality star's supposed foray into the social media platform could be mostly due to the success that both DJ Khaled and her youngest sister have enjoyed on the app. The 18-year-old Kylie got people's attention when she began sharing minute-by-minute updates of her relationship with rapper boyfriend Tyga after she turned legal age. Meanwhile, Khaled is a radio personality and record producer who has seen his profile rise due to his Snapchat videos, in which he regularly share motivational messages to his fans.
However, it looks like Kylie is not intent on letting Kim own the top spot should the latter decide to join the said app. The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters is often touted as the "queen of Snapchat." A source told Hollywood Life that Kylie's "universe revolves around social media, and Snapchat is her bread and butter." The report claims that "the thought of Kim encroaching on her snapping space is freaking her out. Kylie feels in her heart that Kim wants everyone in the family to be second to her in every way."
Kanye West's other half added to the intrigue of whether or not she would join Snapchat by posting a still image (see below) of the DJ Khaled's video on her own Instagram and captioning it with "Should I? #SNAPCHAT." Judging from the post, her fans seem to approve of the idea, with the photo receiving almost one million "likes" to date.
