Can it be true now? Michael Bay once said that "Transformers 3" will be his last, but then "Transformers 4" happened. He said the same thing for "Transformers 4" but is now going to direct "Transformers 5." Lo and Behold, he has now said the same for "Transformers 5." Can it be true now, and do fans want it to be true?
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bay "confirmed" that he will direct "Transformers 5" and this will be his last one. He said it is high time that another person takes over. "Transformers, I still have a great time. It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else," he said.
Before his interview with Rolling Stone, he already divulged with USA Today that he has plans for his future that does not include the franchise. He said he was ready to have a "new chapter." He added that he is interested in engaging in a "new direction in movies." He also said he still has a lot of stories to tell so he needs to flex some "new muscles."
With Hasbro already confirming "Transformers 6," "Transformers 7," and "Transformers 8," it remains to be seen if Bay will not be swayed to retract his words again.
While it is unclear if fans should take his word for it now, it is clear now that Bay has other projects keeping him busy too, apart from "Transformers." His film entitled, "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi," will hit theaters on Jan 15.
Aside from Michael Bay directing "Transformers 5," recent reports have revealed possible plots and story lines for the upcoming installment. Other details have also been revealed. For one, Movieweb reported that Mark Wahlberg will reprise his role as Cade Yeager. However, it remains unknown if Cade's daughter, Tessa, as played by Nicola Peltz will have a role in this movie. It is also unknown if TEssa's boyfriend Shane Dyson, as played by Jack Reynor will also appear.
Movieweb added that "Transformers 5" will be the last movie where Optimus Prime can be seen. With regard its plot, the film is said to have two main storylines. The first one will center around Cade and his struggle to save the world with the help of Autobots and Dinobots. The second storyline is on Optimus Prime and his quest for Quintessons, the innovators of his race.
"Transformers 5" has been confirmed last Sept 2015. At the time, it was told that the movie will start production in June this year, and then released by Summer 2017.
