She says she is too embarrassed to return to church, but former Brazilian feminist, Sara Fernanda Giromin, (alias Sara Winter) publically denounced feminism and apologized to Christians for her offensive behaviour.
Founder of the feminist group, Femen Brazil in 2012, Giromin led several topless feminist protests in Brazil calling for LGBT and abortion rights, in Brazil, where it is still illegal.
In one such protest in January 2014, a topless Giromin was kissing another half-naked woman while lying on a cross on the ground in front of the Church of Our Lady of Candelaria in Rio de Janero. The intent to shock may have worked as the image was widely circulated on social media.
In Portuguese she tells the Christian Post, what it was like to make an about-face. "Asking for forgiveness is certainly not an easy thing to do. We went way too far and ended up offending many religious and non-religious people."
Last month she released her book, Bitch, No! Seven Times I was Betrayed by Feminism and posted a youtube video asking Christians to forgive her for her offensive actions.
She went on to tell the Post that her disillusionment with feminism began after deeply regretting aborting her first child while discovering the joys of motherhood after giving birth to her second child last year.
Looking for help from her feminist friends during her first pregnancy, their only agenda she said was to encourage abortion and counseled her to take abortion inducing pills. "I was really desperate and more than 50 feminists were saying to me, 'if you do it, it will empower your body. If you make an abortion you will have more experience to speak like a feminist.' "
She said that none of them were there to help her when she began to bleed profusely and desperately needed help. Having learned to hate men, ironically it was a man who came to her aid and got her to a hospital and paid her expenses.
Far from the experience of most women who call themselves feminist, Giromin's writing reveals a feminist movement that uses women for the purpose of "inflaming hatred against the Christian religion, hatred against men, hatred against the beauty of women, hatred against the equilibrium of families. That's what feminism is, and I can guarantee it is like that because I was on the inside!"
She also reported the movement being a cover up for pedophiles and placing pressure on women to become lesbian or bisexual and, therefore, gain more respect within the group. She has since rejected all aspects of this "artificial" lifestyle.
According to LifeSite News, Giromin has teamed up with Christian psychologist, Marisa Lobo and has begun on the speaking circuit. A portion of the proceeds from her book will go to pro-life causes.
As for attending church, "For sure, I am Christian. I always was a Christian. I want to come back to the church but for now I am really embarrassed for my feminist past. But if someone could help me to come back, I will love it."
