"Cousin Amy" Duggar is not mincing words when it comes to her cousin, Josh Duggar, referring to him as a "fraud" and "complete stranger" as controversy continues to swirl around the embattled reality star.
As reported by the Gospel Herald, the hit TLC show 19 Kids and Counting was canceled in May after initial reports that Josh, 27, had molested five underage girls, including several of his sisters, as a young teen. A short time later, Jim Bob and Michelle's eldest son also admitted to struggling with pornography addiction and cheating on his wife, Anna, using the Ashley Madison adultery website.
In a lengthy New Year's blog post, Josh's cousin Amy King (formerly Amy Duggar) opened up about how the series of scandals affected her 2015.
Referring to her past year an "emotional rollercoaster," Amy first recounted how her then-boyfriend Dillon King was hit by a drunk driver, his marriage proposal to her a few months later, their wedding and subsequent honeymoon.
"I can't speak for the rest of my family members but I felt like I had been hit with a tidal wave after another last year," she wrote as her blog post took on a darker tone.
"September was a doozie! Life was just wonderful...drum roll please...until one of my family members made some terrible confessions," she wrote. "I knew nothing of the molestation charges, and I had no idea what the Ashley Madison site even was? I was completely shocked just like the rest of the world."
"A million questions flooded my mind," she added. "Rage came over me, sadness crept in, and reality sat in that the person I had known my entire life turned out to be a fraud, and a complete stranger. I've always heard that there were people in this world that lived a double life, but I never thought that someone so close to home would be living a lie."
Amy revealed that despite her dismay over Josh's indiscretions, she remains close to his wife Anna Duggar.
"Everyone we knew and loved attended [my wedding] including Anna Duggar. Her attendance really touched me, after all she has and still is going through she wanted to be there for our special day."
In a list of things she has learned over the past year, Amy wrote, "Anna and I have gotten a lot closer this year, I'm grateful for that family love/friendship."
The aspiring country singer also addressed her parent's recent divorce announcement, writing, "Even though I am an adult and I have my own marriage to care about. I do love them both so much, I hope they can work out their differences and learn how to forgive the past. I love, love. So I want them both to be so happy! Even though I want to just lock them both in a room and say 'you're not coming out until you work it out!' I know it is not my place to do so."
In an Instagram post last month, Amy revealed how she is able to stay positive in the midst of the controversy.
"I have my faith in God," she wrote. "The whole entire family is crushed, I'm mentally worn out! My savior is my everlasting rock and what someone else does, and the choices that someone else makes (even though it makes me furious) it doesn't fall on me, on my future marriage or my personal relationship with Christ."
Josh Duggar is currently seeking treatment at a faith-based rehab center, where he has resided for the past four months.
