Controversial hip-hop singer Chris Brown has revealed that this Christmas, he is praying that people will buy his latest album which will help benefit the Children's Miracle Network.
"Nothing is impossible. I just hope and pray that all this hard work and long restless nights in the studio pays off," the 26-year-old "Loyal" singer tweeted on Sunday. "Wrote and directed all eight videos with my album. Storyline, action, fun, then most important is responsibility. I just pray you buy it."
Royalty, the 7th studio album released by the singer, was released on Dec. 18 and was named after Brown's 1-year-old daughter, whom he shares with model Nia Guzman-Amey. The singer has announced he is donating $1 from every album he sells to Children's Miracle Network, a nonprofit that raises money and awareness for children's health.
"You have these platforms and these positions as an artist. ... It only matters if you help people along the way," Brown said on host Ryan Seacrest's radio show earlier this month.
Over the past several years, the singer has found himself at the center of a number of scandals, including a lawsuit filed against him by a politically powerful religious group in the Philippines after he cancelled a concert.
However, Brown has revealed the recent birth of his daughter combined with his Christian faith has slowly opened his eyes to the truth of the Gospel despite his tainted past.
"When u tired of the [expletive] devil ruining your life and u hear God speak for the first time. No one knows what I deal with on a day to day. The average man wouldn't hesitate to blow his [expletive] brains out ...," the Grammy-award-winning singer wrote in a lengthy Instagram post earlier this year.
"Most won't understand the genius and beauty in change and learning and the people who have devilish intentions will win in the short term. My soul will always be pure of heart. What's on the surface always looks like one big party but inside there is a little boy looking for help and guidance," he continued.
Brown also claimed he is desperately looking for "help and guidance" so he can focus on his music career and raising his daughter.
"People say 'be a man.' Yeah, that's right but it doesn't take away any pain you really go through. I just wanna stay out the way and do music. Most importantly and great father. I don't have any more patience for anything that will cause me to self destruct!!" the "Fine China" singer added.
In the past, the R&B star has also revealed that the church taught him not only about music but the importance of spirituality and self-discipline.
"Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday we had choir rehearsal and the band, the whole nine. So being able to get that music lesson was also a blessing in itself," Brown said on an episode of MTV's "How I Made It." "It was also a discipline. I think my mom knew what she was doing like, 'OK I'm going to keep you out the streets and put you in the church first.'"
