Veep, the critically acclaimed, Emmy award-winning, political comedy was renewed for a fifth season on April 13th, 2015. The HBO series has taken Selina Meyer, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, from being a former senator from Maryland to Vice President of the US. In season 3 finale, she became President after news that the current president is stepping down to care for his ailing wife, making Selina Meyer the first female Commander-In-Chief. There is no "First Man," as Meyer is single. She is, however, mother to her daughter, Catherine, played by Sarah Sutherland (daughter of Keifer Sutherland).

Season 4 brings its viewers through the ups and downs of her presidency- to where it ends with the finale, which is titled Election Night. On this final episode of Season 4, Selina Meyer and her staff await election results to see if she will be reelected as President, or not.

The poll results are coming in, and the results were not looking in Meyer's favor. At one point, she was close to calling her opponent, Senator Bill O'Brien, ready to concede, but just in the nick of time, she was stopped by Mike(Matt Walsh), who had been informed that the wrong call was made in Pennsylvania, and she was not out of it yet.

Calculations were made as the states evened out, and it was all down to Virginia. If Virginia happened to go to Selina, there would be a tie. We get an education on what happens in the case of an Electoral College tie. The House of Representatives chooses the president. The Senate would choose the vice president. This could prove interesting as this could mean a president from one party, and a vice president from the other. Selina worries that her running mate, Tom James could be made president instead.

The votes come in, and... it's a tie! Of course, this is the perfect place to leave the season. There is a need to leave the viewers guessing and hanging while they wait for the next season, which won't start until April 2016.

The show's creator and executive producer, Armando Iannucci, will be leaving the show after bringing it through four seasons according to the BBCHe took the show from the British comedy, Thick of It, and translated it into an American government version. Iannucci was having a hard time balancing his duties to family in Britain while working on the show across the pond. Iannucci tweeted "Time for me to quit airports. I'm leaving on a high and kissing goodbye to jet-lag." David Mandel, writer and director of Curb Your Enthusiasm, will be taking his place.

Will Veep continue to enjoy its increase in approval ratings? Metacritic.com has shown an increase in ratings with each sequential season. Season 4 scored a 90 out of 100 based on 11 reviews. Julia Louis-Dreyfus enjoyed a win at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Veep.
