"Jessica Jones" was finally brought to Netflix last November, making many comic book fans rejoice. Most viewers were not disappointed and are now clamoring for a second season. Netflix however, still has not made an official announcement that a second season might happen, even though there are signs that prove otherwise.
Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg however, refuse to dash the hopes of fans. She said the chance of a second season is high, but "when?" is quite difficult to answer right now.
Speaking with Hollywood Reporter, she said, " I hope so. There certainly is storytelling wise. The question becomes is there actual time? There are logistics involved, because Defenders has to shoot by a certain time, contractually. Actually, I'm not sure; I'm not at all involved in those conversations, much to my dismay. The first question is whether or not we will even get a second season. The second question is, if so, when? Will it be before The Defenders or after? I'd certainly love it to be before but there are things that play into that-time, availability."
Actor Mike Colter also recently shared how well the first season of "Jessica Jones" did. In fact, it surpassed everyone's expectations.
In an exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor Mike Colter, or Luke Cage in the series, spoke of how he got to know his character through the eyes of Jessica Jones. Luka Cage is a reluctant superhero known for his impenetrable skin. This character would get to have his own title series, to be released in 2016 in Netflix. According to Colter, it was surprising for him that "Jessica Jones" did so well, but he could not complain.
"We had hoped it would be well received, but it's surpassed expectations, and that's a good thing. We're happy that people are drinking the Kool-Aid and enjoying the story that we're trying to tell with these characters," he said.
Since the whole season of "Jessica Jones" is delivered at one time, just like other Netflix series, it is easy to see how people's reactions to the show, especially in social media. Fans need not wait for the next episode and reserve their judgment, like other TV series. For Colter, people talking about the show on their social media account is a good thing, even if he does not check each and every comment made on the show.
"I think people just want to share and get it out. You want to see what other people are saying and bounce things off, and go back and forth, and it's a great outlet for that. It seems to be a really hot topic on social media, so I'm really happy about that." he explained.
If there is a season 2 however, the question transcends from when to "who is the next big bad?" Jones was able to defeat a villain called Kilgrave on the first season, who is next? According to Movie Pilot, there are many possible villains this time around, Simpson and IGH, to name a few. To defeat them, Jessica Jones just might need the help of her best friend Trish, or even Hellcat.
