One of the league's biggest rivals will once again face each other on Monday Night Football as the Washington Redskins host the Dallas Cowboys in a game that eventually decides who will take home the NFC East crown. The Cowboys' recent loss to the Carolina Panthers was one of their worst for the season, resulting to an injured Tony Romo. The Redskins managed to improve 5-6 upon winning over the New York Giants.
Washington is finding itself in the playoff race and could lead the NFC East if the Jets beat the Giants on Sunday. After a 44-16 defeat by the Panthers two weeks ago, coach Jay Gruden was able to lead the Redskins to victory against the Giants with a 20-14 final score. Quarterback Kirk Cousins performed well, finishing 20 of his passes for 302 yards and a couple of TDs.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys must go back to Matt Cassel, following their tragic loss to Carolina on Thanksgiving. That game also resulted to quarterback Tony Romo injury that ended his season. Dallas has a 0-7 record when using backup quarterbacks. Cassel decently delivered last week, but even after putting up good numbers against the Panthers he still has a 78.8 passer rating.
The Cowboys-Redskins matchup will take place on Monday, 8:30 p.m. ET at the FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
