Jeremy Lin is asking for his fans to continue praying for and supporting him. The Christian NBA star claims that he is dealing with a lot of emotional issues right now, and only prayers can help him.
In an email sent to his digital prayer group, the professional athlete glorified God for surviving some of the issues he had been struggling with. Although he now feels significantly better, the 27-year old still wants people to continue praying for and with him.
The email, entitled "Jeremy's Prayer Request 13," showcased how grateful Lin is to God for helping him achieve peace, despite having a "prideful heart." The email stated. "First is a praise to God for softening my prideful heart to have recently found supernatural peace and rest, regardless of my circumstances. As I start my 6th year in the NBA, I'd say I've enjoyed the first couple months of this season more than any other season, mainly because God is showing me more and more the intricacies of understanding that my identity as a person isn't in my job or performance, but in Him."
Lin wants people to continue praying for him because staying at peace for a long time can be challenging. He added that as a "very emotional person," he knows that he can shift from feeling content and at peace one minute to being worried and anxious the next quickly.
Aside from asking for prayers, the athlete also offered prayers for his teammates, the members of his digital prayer group, and the victims of terror attacks in Paris, Beirut, and Syria.
Lin started his digital prayer group just last year. At the time, he explained that he created the group after many of his fans asked him how they can pray for him and show him the love he needed. "The journey I've been on has had its ups and downs, and I appreciate all of your support throughout. Some of you have asked how to pray for me so I decided to start a prayer group where I can send out requests for those that want to pray and support," he wrote then.
Last August, Lin also thanked God for helping him become part of Charlotte Hornets after a not-so-good season with the Los Angeles Lakers last year. "Praise God for me landing in Charlotte!! I truly believe God specifically placed me in Charlotte, as He left one obvious door open and closed the rest," Lin wrote last August. "Initially, Charlotte wasn't even on my list of top destinations, but my journey has always had unexpected but divine turns and surprises."
