Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has encouraged Christians who are discouraged by the current condition of the United States to find comfort in the belief that God is ultimately in control of all things.
In a Facebook post shared on Monday, the former Republican vice presidential nominee wrote, "People ask me if I'm discouraged about the state of our nation. OF COURSE-aren't you? But then I remember God is our strength!#SweetFreedom."
Palin offered a similar sentiment in a post shared just several days earlier: "Make every place you go the happiest place on earth! Keep the faith. Live life vibrantly by never vacillating in determination to overcome evil in this world that comes to steal and destroy... never surrender to fear or hopelessness. Taste sweet freedom through vigilant loyalty to your faith, family and America's freedom. Fight for it. We're all in this together; make sure God's in it, too."
As reported by the Gospel Herald, Palin recently released her latest book, "Sweet Freedom: A Devotional."
"You are not alone in your doubts and anxieties - we all bear the burdens of everyday stresses, and for most of us, our concerns spread beyond ourselves to our families, communities, and country," reads Amazon's description of the book.
"But Palin shows that with abiding faith, and by opening ourselves to the truths that have saved mankind for generations, we can thrive - and experience true freedom."
The 51-year-old wife and mother-of-five recently told Fox News Radio host Brian Kilmeade that she wrote the book because people frequently ask her in "this worried world" what to do in "these tumultuous times."
"God has a way of driving us to our knees, to keep us humble, to keep us focused on Him. I can't survive a day without it," said Palin.
The politician and author contended that God's talents are "not put in us to frustrate us or tease us, or to just sit on those interests or those gifts of talent - but they're to put us on a road toward fulfillment, toward productivity, ultimately helping other people. And I know that built within me is certainly passion for this country."
In a separate interview with Conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt, Palin revealed that another reason she wrote her book was to drive home the reality that the answer to even the most difficult of questions can be found in the Old and New Testaments.
"On the surface, yes, [this is] a very typical devotional, but I wanted to do this one different in compiling the lessons, the verses, the parables, different aspects of Scripture, Old and New Testament, that happened to give us the specific, precise answers to the challenges that we're facing as a nation right now politically and national security-wise even and of course, as individuals because everybody's facing a challenge or a battle. It is amazing, Hugh, that you can go the Old and New Testament and find answers and solutions to all these things that politicians are really struggling with."
She added, "My favorite one, just off the tip of my tongue, is whether we should defend the Second Amendment or not, and here in Luke 22, Jesus is telling us, take up your arms and defend yourself, don't wait for somebody else to do. So even an issue like whether the Second Amendment should be defended or not is right there."
