The shooter of a Tulane medical student was arrested on Monday night. The student was shot in the stomach after trying to help a seemingly kidnapped woman.

"Members of our special operations teams along with U.S. marshals tracked Cain down and he was arrested without further incident and gave a full confession," New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison said in a press briefing.

The gunman has multiple charges including first-degree attempted murder.

Police officials also arrested two women inside the home of Euric Cain, 21, including his girlfriend Victoria Washington.

Peter Gold, a 25-year-old fourth-year medical student, narrowly escaped death after Cain's gun jammed when he attempted to shot Gold in the head. The med student is now in critical condition at a New Orleans hospital.

In surveillance footage, Cain is seen forcing a woman down a sidewalk towards an SUV. Seconds later, Gold's car stopped right next to the SUV, Gold exits from his car and go towards the gunman.

After that, Gold walks back into the frame -- with his arms up. The gunman exchanged words with medical student and then shot him in the stomach. The student fell to the ground and writhed in pain. The shooter aimed the gun at the student's head, but the gun apparently jammed.

Moreover, the footage showed that the shooter tried to fix the gun and attempted to fire at Gold's head again, but the gun did not fire. At that point, the suspect ran to his car.

According to a police report, the gunman told the student to surrender his money. When Gold said he has no cash in his pockets, Cain shot him.

Cain also grabbed the woman's purse before fleeing. The woman had suffered minor injuries.

Gold's parents thanked everyone's concern and support for their son, who is still in "guarded condition". The family also added: "We ask that everyone respect our need for privacy while we join Peter as he begins to recover from the injuries he has sustained."

Proud parents with Peter!!
