R&B singer Tamar Braxton is praising God after leaving the hospital following a diagnosis of blood clots in her lungs - a health scare that ended her successful run on Dancing with the Stars.
On Wednesday, the 38-year-old co-host of The Real was released from a week-long stint at the hospital after doctors found blood clots in both of her lungs, and on Thursday called into the popular talk show to update fans on her health.
"I mean, I'm just so elated," she said. "And I just feel so blessed to come out of the hospital. Because, you know, the realization is that, you know, a lot of people don't come out of the hospital with multiple PEs [pulmonary embolisms] like I had."
Braxton added that she feels "blessed beyond measure."
"I'm just so excited that I was one of the few people who got a chance to come out of the hospital, come on!" she said after thanking her fans and her family for their prayers.
"I mean, you know, honestly, God is so good," she said.
On Wednesday, the singer took to Instagram to share a short video of herself leaving the hospital.
"Look at GOD!! #so blessed," she captioned a video where she sings about finally leaving the hospital. "Thank you all for your prayers. I [love] you all so much."
After being rushed to the hospital on November 9, Braxton announced two days later via Instagram that she would be dropping out of the Dancing with the Stars. During her time on the show, Braxton and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were favored to win Season 21 of the ABC dancing competition.
"With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem. After yesterday's final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn't want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don't have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.'s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs)," Braxton wrote.
"As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one's way," she continued. "But in this case, my health is my current obstacle. And in TRUE #tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else."
A report from The Christian Post notes that Braxton's foundation of faith in God and her work likely stems from her upbringing in a household with pastor parents.
"Both of my parents at one time were pastors of their own churches and I learned a lot from that," she told Flaunt magazine during a 2013 interview. "But not until I was an adult did I understand it and know for myself."
She later told Ebony magazine: "I had to be really strong in my faith and I know if it wasn't for God, I would not be here."
