The Seattle Seahawks will be without running back Marshawn Lynch as they go against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Lynch has just been included in the team's latest injury report at a time when the Seahawks are facing a crucial moment in their fight to claim the NFC West division title.
Lynch did not participate with his team's practice on Wednesday. The Seahawks earlier said that his absence was not related to an injury and he then joined the team during their practice session on Thursday. As such, the running back is a late addition to the report and the reason listed is "abdominal" injury. His game status is now set as "questionable."
"I guess he came off the field [on Thursday] and felt something. He came in [Friday] morning and he felt a little something in his abdomen that just bothered him. I think it's something he's had before, something that bothered him. We treated him all day just to make sure we took care of him," coach Pete Carroll explained, via CBS Sports.
In the event that Lynch is not able to play during the upcoming Seahawks vs. Cardinals game, his team has Thomas Rawls, Fred Jackson and Bryce Brown on standby. Rawls has led Seattle with 376 rushing yards, which is one more than Lynch.
Other players included in the team's updated injury report are wide receiver Ricardo Lockette (neck), tight end Luke Willson (toe), offensive tackle Russell Okung (toe/ankle), and defensive ends Michael Bennett (NIR) and David King (groin).
In other Seahawks news, the organization has apparently responded to Jimmy Fallon's entry to his "Superlatives" segment which airs during the latter's "The Tonight Show" on NBC. In a recent episode, which is posted below, the talk show host made fun of football players' mug shots accompanied with ridiculous yearbook-style captions.
In return, some Seahawks players responded by posting their own hilarious Superlatives video on YouTube, which can be watched below. The clip features defensive end Michael Bennett, tight end Luke Willson and punter Jon Ryan. The recently injured Marshawn Lynch is the video's surprise guest as he appeared during the final few seconds of the clip.
"That was great. Thank you for the great video, hopefully my jokes give you the edge you need to win this weekend. So thank you to the Seattle Seahawks for being such good sports," Fallon said, when asked for his reaction to the Seahawks' response.
