Jessa Duggar Seewald and her husband Ben Seewald have kept their followers in suspense about the name of their first baby. Now it can be revealed that the little tot is named Spurgeon Elliot Duggar Seewald.

The new name, Entertainment Tonight reveals, has shocked a lot of the Duggars' followers as well as the informed public in general.

As befitting a reality TV family, Jessa Duggar, who stars on her own reality TV show alongside sister Jill Duggar Dillard, has not stopped giving people enough fodder to talk about.

The rather unusual name has raised a lot of eyebrows and has provoked people to wonder the whys and wherefores of the baby's new name.

The Seewalds have actually elaborated on the significance of the name Spurgeon Elliot. The Entertainment Tonight report says that Spurgeon and Elliot are two names taken from long departed giants in the Christian faith.

The couple revealed that they wanted their 9 pounds, 11 ounces and 21-¼ inches long son to reflect the kind of philosophy and moral standards embodied in Charles Spurgeon and the husband and wife missionary team, Jim and Elisabeth Elliot.

The Elliots were missionaries in Ecuador during the 50s. Jim was killed in 1956 by the native Amazonian tribe. The Amazons were the recipients of the Elliot's missionary work.

Instead of giving into grief and bitterness, Elisabeth used this opportunity to display their Christian beliefs to the pagan tribe. Elisabeth continued to minister to the natives, with the hard work paying off in time. She later returned to America and became an author. She passed away this June at the age of 88.

On the other hand, Charles Spurgeon was a 19th-century theologian whose writing continue to influence modern day preachers and Christian leaders and authors to this day. "He had a big impact on our lives," Ben said.

Meanwhile, The Inquisitr gave the lowdown on how Jessa Duggar Seewald's safe and comfy home birth that ended up in a scary hospital incident.

The situation was a close call that saw Jessa going into labor for 48 hours but needing an epidural after ten hours of contractions.

Jessa successfully gave birth at home under the surveillance and support of Duggar matriarch Michelle, but the warm event suddenly gave way to something alarming when Jessa went into excessive bleeding. This prompted Michelle to dial 911 and request for an ambulance so that daughter could be brought to hospital and get checked out.
