A second trailer for Marvel and Netflix's new collaboration, Jessica Jones has been released. The character's physical prowess was on full display in this new clip, even though it seems that she is mentally weaker than her opponent, Killgrave.
Featuring Krysten Ritter as the main protagonist, Jessica Jones is slated to launch officially on Nov 20. The new Marvel Netflix series drums up excitement and anticipation with the release of some trailers.
The latest full trailer allowed viewers to see that this character is not an easy girl to mess with, at least physically. The trailer showed that even with Jones' obvious physical strength, the villain Killgrave a.k.a. The Purple Man, a.k.a. David Tenant still can get under her skin with just a few antics. The villain's twisted personality and capability to manipulate people mentally is certainly something Jones need to watch out for.
The plot of "Jessica Jones" will revolve around a former superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder who decided to establish her detective agency. As early as now, many believe that this could be another ticket to success for Netflix, following "Daredevil." Many are also starting to compare this second scripted Marvel series to "Daredevil" since they share a studio and a distributor.
Early on, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg already clarified how "wildly different" the two shows are. "The mythology of the universe is connected, but they look very different. Tonally, they're very different," she said at the Television Critics Association Press Tour as reported by Hollywood Reporter.
Rosenberg added that the comic book series on which Jessica Jones is based on was amazing. She particularly praised the writer, Brian Michael Bendis. "He created this incredibly flawed, damaged, interesting character. Regardless of gender, it was the character that drew me," Rosenberg said. "We've been going further in all of our storytelling. There is no edge."
Daredevil showrunner, Steven S. DeKnight himself praised the upcoming show. According to him, everything he has seen and heard of the new series is positive.
DeKnight told Hollywood Reporter, "Everything I've seen and heard about Jessica Jones is fantastic," while praising the book series authored by Brian Michael Bendis.
"He created this incredibly flawed, damaged, interesting character. Regardless of gender, it was the character that drew me," added Rosenberg "We've been going further in all of our storytelling. There is no edge."
