There's good news for Sony Xperia users who are waiting with bated breath for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update: The first is that most of the newer Sony handsets - including the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium - will have it. The second is that the updates will be coming very soon, by the end of the year or come 2016. The third is that users can expect greater battery life and performance with this new OS.
In fact, the Android Pit reports that the Xperia Z5 Premium will be one of the first Sony devices to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, even though it has yet to enter the market in certain parts of the world. It was sold at a limited offer in Taiwan and had an OTA firmware update for performance enhancements at the same time.
For many Sony Xperia Z3 users - one thing for sure. They are hoping the Z5 Premium won't have to deal with the overheating problem that the Z3 does.
Nevertheless, one thing to look forward to for all the handset models, including the Z5 Compact, Z4, and Z2, all users should look forward to greater battery life, and thus a more powerful performance through the Marshmallow update.
The most important feature of Marshmallow 6.0, as the Guardian reports, is the Doze feature that works hard to reduce background activity (even checking for alerts less often) when your gadget isn't in use. Doze automatically sets up when it senses the phone or tablet is not being used. The results: that's longer battery life to perform more jaw-dropping action.
A closer look at the Marshmallow 6.0 shows that the new OS will enable your phone to do more sensitive stuff. One is that apps only ask for permissions as required. This means you don't need to give a blanket approval for all apps that are waiting to get its access on your info. You can pick and choose as you please because the permissions will be asked separately within the same app.
Google Now also changes drastically to be able to work alongside Marshmallow. It now can recognize the context of your screen. Thus whenever you repeat an action, Google Now will give you info that is relevant to the app you are using and according to what you're using it for. That's greater intelligence and more efficient usage of your phone or tablet.
More updates on Marshmallow's developments will be coming up soon.
