Now you get greater Stamina mode on your Xperia handsets when Sony rolls out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow for its handsets.

Pocket-lint reports that Google's Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be coming out to some phones soon, beginning with the Nexus handsets. The mobile operating system update will be hitting different handset brands at various release dates.

For Sony Xperia Z5 handsets, Android Pit reports that phone users will still have to deal with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop until Sony puts the new update in 2016. At the moment, Sony is working on improving its Stamina Mode battery feature to maintain, or even exceed its above average standby times. This will be an excellent combination with Android Marshmallow's Doze feature.

Meanwhile, Techno Buffalo affirms that it is not just one or two handset models, but it will be Sony's full Xperia Z5 lineup that will benefit from greater battery life with the Stamina Mode in Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Sony's Stamina Mode will increase by 400 percent by closing down unnecessary background tasks when your device is not in use. Not that the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium, and Xperia Z5 Compact are not already enjoying a decent battery life. The main point is that it will get even better than before.

It is unknown if Sony will put the new platform update in its older Sony Xperia devices, but the Sony Mobile blog did promise in October that it is "working hard to bring this major update to as many of our devices as possible, as quickly as we can."

As for the Sony M4 Aqua, VC Post reveals that the 6.0 Marshmallow will be rolled out for this device model as well through an official over-the-air (OTA) release.

In a list posted on Sony Mobile's official blog site, the tech firm outlined its plans for which smartphones and tablets will receive the update. However no specific date has been mentioned, so most are placing the release dates by year's end or after 2016 kicks in.

Aside from Xperia M4 Aqua, Android 6.0 is also confirmed to roll out to 13 other devices like Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2, among others. Tech analysts believe that this list is just an initial one.

The excitement over the 6.0 Marshmallow is down to the key features that give greater control for users. The Marshmallow is expected to have users manipulate app permissions (it is now possible to accept or reject permissions entirely at the point of installation), purchase with fingerprint support and Android Pay; and enjoy an overhauled App Drawer, which scrolls vertically instead of horizontally against a white background.
