Turn on the TV and you've got high-strung political drama set in the seat of power. Is it the 2016 elections or is it House of Cards season 4?
The good news is Netflix has renewed House of Cards for another season and it's coming just in time for the U.S. presidential elections, Pop Sugar reports.
House of Cards is an adaptation of the BBC mini-series and based on the novel by Michael Dobbs. House of Cards is set in Washington, D.C. and its hero is Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey), who is a Democrat from South Carolina.
Frank is passed over for appointment as Secretary of State, so he conspires to get himself the highest seat of power in the land with the help of his wife Claire Underwood (Robin Wright). With episodes that revolve around power plays, manipulation, crime and intense drama, it's a series that keeps people hanging on the edge of their seats.
Viewers everywhere were shocked after Claire decided to leave Frank after disillusionment and discouragement set in their marriage. Apparently, power is not enough to keep a husband and wife happy in their marital union.
House of Cards was developed and executive produced by Beau Willimon and David Fincher. The cast is fronted by Kevin Spacey, Eric Roth, Joshua Donen, Dana Brunetti, Andrew Davies and Michael Dobbs.
The political drama has also garnered quite a few enviable recognition in the industry: a total of nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations were collected for the first season and earned it the distinction of being the only web TV series to receive Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations.
Wright got the Golden Globe plum for Best Actress in TV Series Drama. Season 2 earned House of Cards 13 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and 3 Golden Globe nominations. Kevin Spacey got the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in TV Series Drama.
When-Will reports that season 4 will make its grand entrance in 2016, just in time for the US elections. It's very likely that the plot will mirror the real-life drama that will be taking place on the national podium. Filming for the fourth season is currently underway, from summer of 2015.
