Tekken 7 release date on PlayStation 4 remains unknown, even though the arcade version of the game is doing well so far. Unfortunately, Tekken home edition has always been exclusive to the PlayStation console series. That means an Xbox One version of Tekken 7 is not likely to occur anytime soon. The release of Tekken 7 arcade marks the 21st year since the historic franchise's premier in 1994.
Now that the arcade version is more or less widely distributed worldwide, the one question that remains is when console version will be out. Oddly, Sony recently announced that Tekken 7 is coming to PlayStation despite the obvious fact. Even more curious, the Japan-based firm declined to confirm a release date.
This recent announcement was made during Sony Computer Entertainment's press session at the Paris Games Week conference. Besides stating that Tekken 7 is coming to PS4, Sony also said that the game would also have PlayStation VR support.
For those unfamiliar with the hardware, VR is Sony's virtual reality headset that includes sound, stereoscopic 3D and head-tracking technology. At this time, PlayStation VR is still in the prototype stage, and has yet to receive a release date.
For the first time in Tekken's history, the arcade version includes a practice mode that allows plays a limited time to train against an opponent. That may be useful for new players who are trying to get into the game.
Introduction to Characters
One notable addition is Kazumi Mishima, wife of Heihachi and mother of Kazuya. Like her husband and offspring, the Mishima matriarch possesses the Devil Gene and the same fighting style. However, the character is able to summon tigers and levitate. According to PlayStation blog, Tekken 7 is going to bring the epic Mishima Clan saga to an end.
Other new characters include Lucky Chloe, Katarina Alves, Josie Rizal, Claudio Serafino, Gigas, Kazumi Mishima, Jack-7 and Shaheen. Tekken 7 adds a number of new nationalities namely in Shaheen from Saudi Arabia, Josie Rizal from the Philipinnes, and Claudio from Italy.
Returning fighters include Alisa Bosconovitch, Asuka Kazama, Bryan Fury, Devil Jin, Feng Wei, Heihachi Mishima, Hwoarang, Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Devil Kazuya, King, Lars Alexandersson, Leo Kliesen, Lili, Ling Xiaoyu, Marshall Law, Paul Phoenix, Sergei Dragunov, Steve Fox and Yoshimitsu.
Earlier, Tekken 7 saw a limited release in Japan on February 18. This was followed by a wider release in March 18. Tekken publisher Bandai Namco eventually released Tekken 7 at a few select locations in the U.S.
