The crossover video game, Tekken X Street Fighter, from Bandai Namco and Capcom, is rumored to be scheduled for release in 2016, rumors circulating the gaming community said.
According to the rumor mill, the team behind the development of Tekken X Street Fighter is rushing the completion of the crossover video game to meet their 2016 release target date, although the exact release date has yet to be determined. The head of the development team, Japanese video game director Katsuhiro Harada, is reported to have scheduled the release of the game sometime next year, reported Japanese website Famitsu.
The report also quoted Harada as saying that the game developers have already pushed back the launch date of Tekken X Street Fighter to make sure they will be releasing a "near-perfect game." Harada said, "It's very difficult to talk about. Obviously, I had originally planned to release it much earlier than we're currently looking at."
Also, Harada is busy with the development of upcoming games, including Pokken Tournament and Tekken 7 that has affected the release schedule of Tekken X Street Fighter at much later date.
In a separate report, Uber Gizmo said that Bandai Namco and Capcom want to give Tekken X Street Fighter its rightful spotlight when it is finally released. "I've been saying this since before, but the fact of the matter is that we're at a pretty far stage into its development. It might seem like we haven't started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago, and we've already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems."
Tekken X Street Fighter was unveiled during the San Diego 2010 Comic Con that will include popular characters, including Ryu and Jim Kazama, who were also featured in the first series of promotional posters.
In 2012, Namco took to social media, particularly via its Facebook page to ask gamers who they think should be included on the 66-man roster of Street Fighter and 56-man roster from Tekken by choosing their five most favorite from each of the games. At that time, Tekken X Street Fighter was at least 10 percent completed.
Originally, the game was intended to be compatible with Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. However, latest reports indicated that Tekken X Street Fighter will be released for next-generation consoles and PC.
